Not sure if I ever posted of what the truck sounded like before the new headers and exhaust so here you go, first video is what the truck sounded like when we bought it, 2nd video is just open headers, and 3rd one is headers and mufflers

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Thanks man appreciate it!! In the video it was warming up that why it was idling fast right after I took the video I went to go just romp it to let my friend hear it and then when I left off the idle speed went down alot, I said damn if I would of only know, hopefully I can get my buddy to let me use his go pro and I'll take a video of me driving that way you can hear the exhausts true colors.

All I have to say man is better have ear muffs or buy some plugs that open headers noise is going to last a good solid 5-10 minutes and then your going to say I need an exhaust ASAP lol

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well today was long but fun, thanks to a good friend of mine (67 c10 guy) helped me take off my old fenders so I could sand and prime the old ones and take care of trim issues so here's pictures of what was done today.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

I really loved the open headers

Are you going to put the 77 trim back on? If not I'm sure you could get a penny for some of those pieces since they were rare. I had a couple of good ones and I'm kicking myself in the butt because I threw them away without knowing what I had.

Coming along good. While the core support is apart, you might want to check into replacing your core support bushings while you have easy access to them.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Thanks man appreciate always nice to be told I'm making good progress and doing good. It helps me keep pushing along. Yeah I loved the open headers for about here to the exhaust shop and I was glad to have my new exhaust lol

Yeah I'm getting rid of all the trim pieces, I kind of like a "naked trim" look is what I'll call it haha and yeah I've had a few people tell me since there in pretty decent condition I could get some money just got to take the time out to take them off and what not.

Yeah I'm not sure if it was noticeable but the one with the battery cables, you can see where it's actually been rusted a friend of mine suggested for me to get a whole new core support so I'm going to look into that and with it off I might try to tighten up some things and get some more work done to it, take advantage of it all being off and having alot of room.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

After taking mine off Saturday I found out that mine was rusted through in that area as well. Most of the damage was on the inner fender though. Yours looks worse than mine though. Stupid leaking batteries did that a lot I guess. All of the ones I saw at the salvages yards were rusted there.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Yeah my friend that came over said that on the square body the core support is known for being rusted due to the fact of having the leaking battery acid, and what not. so I'm going to look around see if I can find a good one, and if not bring on the sheet metal and welding just make a spot to cover up that rusted hole. Another bad spot I was also told is where the rubber is on the windshield its been known to get pretty nasty itself.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well as you could tell there still needed to be a little work done on the fenders such as taking of the silverado logo, I decided to come to my dads again today since I was just going to be stuck at home tonight so came to finish up some fender work so here's tonight work. What you think of my silverado logo guys? Of course by no means am I an expert in body work but I must say for a rookie, I think I've done a pretty kick ass job!

Here's my work bench for the night out of 18 years living with my dad I can't recall ever using this so I said wth lets use it and get it dirty, so here it is with primer and all good way to use a new tool lol

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

looks good 77. i have a decent core support, but the inner fender well took the most damage, and so did the battery box. im thinking before things get to hairy with mine is to relocate the battery box, and set me up a cold air induction system right there. my battery box is still intact but someone shoved a piece of 2x4 under it to make the battery sit right

Thanks chevybuilder yeah I'm going to look into a new core support see what it all includes and if I feel crazy enough might just get some sheet metal and replace what was eaten away. I like your idea on the relocation where you thinking of putting it?

Thanks man they look sick, your so critical of yourself sometimes that when I finally stopped and uploaded the pictures I was like damn I actually did a badass job because I took my time.

im thinking the fender over the inner fender well on passenger side. i would relocate the batter in the cab but i think its had enough rust for a couple years on that thing lol plus if the battery blows i rather it be outside then in. note i am doing my new battery box with some rubber coat. not only that, but thinking about the new batterys, the lithium six packs. saves a lot of hard ache from acid plus better cold cranking amps!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Hahaha that definitely wouldn't be a problem being as my car battery cost me $185 haha, yeah I'm trying to think of a nifty way to fix my rusted through part of my core support just thinking a few pieces of sheet metal to kind of reinforce it should be fine, now for my battery, I thought about designing my own "protective box", just because of the weather here in Texas is wild try to get it to preserve the battery longer but I'm not sure if my hood will allow it, but I was thinking about just building a literal box around the battery with an opening to be able to take it out of the truck if need be.

Thumbs up Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Making some good progress man. On my square, I'm mounting a battery holder on to the frame below the front of the bed on the passenger side. No more rust under the hood for me.

Keep after it!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Thanks truckzilla, yeah its actually challenging to come up with an idea on what to do, I like your idea have to take pictures so I can see it. I mean I don't mind putting it back under the hood by any means but if I do, I want to ahve something different and kind of have it reinforced you could say. It's going to take some time to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it.

Its sad, I've had back issues and stuff with me playing sports all my life, but since I've started working on my truck as much as I have its actually improved a lot weird but I'll take it! I'm hoping to get the doors, also what I can of the cab, and then all that will be left will be to get the rear fenders done and I'll have a fully primed truck and can rock that need a paint job style haha

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

^_^ Im cheap with paint....Im doing The "Blitz Black" from John Deere but you can also paint cheap with a roller and rust-oleum like many members on here. They call it the $50 paint job and will probably cost you $100 but takes time and patience and a lot of sanding...Which scares me because i suck at the sanding part and think i would screw it up especially in the wet sanding and buffing phase
