Re: Project Platinum C10
Haha, nothing has happened really. Waiting on the lowering kit to come in from DJM and sending the mirrors back because one came in broken. I am contemplating about pulling the engine to change gaskets, cam bearings, etc..... It would be a great time to clean the engine compartment and clean the engine up also. The engine is a stock 4.1 L inline 6 so I hate to put much time and money in it. I plan on running this engine until it blows because it runs really good right now....

Re: Project Platinum C10
I would say if it's a fairly simple job and cheap enough go ahead do it, it'll just freshen up the motor some. What motor do you eventually plan to put in it?

Re: Project Platinum C10
The job shouldn't be too hard. Just pull the motor and tranny all in one pull and replace seals, gaskets and bearings. Put the engine back together and pressure wash it, blast it and paint it. Install it back in. Sounds simple enough! I will eventually start building a 383 Stroker. The reason I am going to do that last is because the truck has a 4 on the floor with an inline 6 so I will have to change out the motor, transmission, drive shaft (I think) rear end gears and steering column. All that would take my total budget I have now.....The engine runs good so I will keep it and in turn get the truck painted, lowered and put some rims on it and hopefully get the bench seat re upholstered!

Re: Project Platinum C10
I hear you there man, I got a little 305 in my little monster, I'm probably going to hold onto I'm going to get a the Chevy 350 because that's what was initially in my truck. Like you said though it's going to be one of the last things to be done though, well I'm going to try and get a block when I can set some cash aside and stop spending it and start installing how I want it so by the time I'm ready all I got to do is install turn on and drive! Sounds easy right?

Re: Project Platinum C10
Sounds easy enough! Oh I forgot to mention that I placed an order for the custom tailgate emblem that I sketched up "Platinum C10". The only problem is it will take 4 to 10 weeks to be complete. I won't need it until I put the truck into paint anyways. I'll be out of town this weekend so I won't get any work done on my truck.

Re: Project Platinum C10
yeah it sounds easy, but will it actually be easy that's another story dang that's a long wait but I'm sure it'll be well worth it when you get to see the emblem, I'm pumped to see it! I might have to talk to you about that because that does sound awesome! I would take my silverado logo's and make some custom. You're an evil genius was the price fair?

Re: Project Platinum C10
I thought about changing out the side emblems as well but the price is a little steep. 125$ for one emblem measuring like 1.5" x 8". A portion of that cost is custom design CAD work that would only be charged once so the other ones would have cost me like 75$ a piece. So for a tailgate emblem and 2 side emblems it would have set me back $275. I guess the cost is not too bad for something that no one else would have.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Yeah, I might PM you later about the info for the company that's doing yours, I just like the idea you did, I mean it's going to be completely custom and how many people can say they have custom emblems on there trucks.

Re: Project Platinum C10
I just made a sketch of what I wanted and sent it to them and they will send a quote back telling you how much it is. You can have them done cheaper but I had the letters filled in with black paint. They have a portion on the website that you fill out to get a quote. Check them out!

Re: Project Platinum C10
Ok, I'll sketch something up when I get time. Would you like any of the letter to be capitalized? I'll try and use the same font so them emblems still look similar.

Re: Project Platinum C10
So I called DJM and they told me they wouldn't have my lowering kit ready to ship until the end of next week. I ordered this kit from DJM on May 21st thinking I would get it faster.....this is not the case

Oh okay I see. Yeah it always seems like when you need something it takes longer than it should, but it's just a part of life.

Re: Project Platinum C10
Waiting for parts always sucks. It would be nice if people just gave a honest estimate on shipping time instead of telling you what you want to hear and taking your money first
