I'm not drag racing my truck and not pulling a trailer with it either. It's mine. I paid for it, and the way I want it is the way I want it. Sorry for the rant..had to get that off my chest. But yes. If it had been a high hump floor it would have probably cleared no problem. It'll end up being a high hump floor here soon though :-) |

I hope you feel better after that rant.
I have to agree with you though. The internet forums are full of guys that tell you that you are building your truck wrong. Even outside the internet. I have a couple buddies, even one of my kids, that tell me I'm building mine wrong.

I'll never tell somebody they're building something wrong, that they own. It belongs to them and they pay to do whatever they want to it. I can give my opinion and it's up to them to decide what they wanna do with that opinion. Build yours to the way you want it. When whomever inherits it, they can change whatever they want to when the time comes. Like you, I'm going to enjoy my truck the way I want it and put my design ideas into it. It'll be a representation of me and my personality when it's done..whether it's right or wrong according to popular criticism. |

Well I mean I'm not telling you to buy another truck because the trans doesn't clear the floor. If it was my truck I'd bump the floor out too.

Lmao!! The floor is getting massaged, ceramic coated long tubes are getting installed and the exhaust will be hidden. Also, the computer is going inside the cab and not exposed inside the engine compartment just because the same guy makes computer brackets that mount on the fender. Just saying.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Shoot, I should have told you in my earlier post. I had to cut my trans hump and install a high hump tunnel for my trans to fit and the proper angle. Even after that I had to massage the rear of my floor a little as the drive shaft would hit when I stomped on it. DANG LEAF SPRINGS!!

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Update. The fine folks at bumpus Harley in Jackson TN gave me a fair offer on my bike. I'm happy to report that due to the amount that they offered will now allow me to add a super charger to my list of parts that are going to be added to my swap.
Thank you. That is all. Lol. :-) :-) |

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
It is unfortunate you had to let the bike go though. I traded mine for my truck. It was painful, but there will be more bikes.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Yessir. You are right about it being a painful decision. I rationalized it this way. I can only ride the Harley half the year. I can drive my truck all year. Gotta love climate controls :-) and I'd rather have someone else enjoy the bike rather than it just sit in my shop collecting dust.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
My decision wasn't really difficult, I finally got my Jeep Rock Crawler done and the bike would have had a hard time towing the Jeep.

Sorry you feel that way, but Scotty does some seriously awesome work, and is willing to share pretty much everything he knows with the LS squarebody community, no matter your attitude or opinion towards him. |

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
I don't have anything negative to say about Scotty. In fact. He does do some awesome work and is always extremely helpful to pretty much everyone. Not sure why you threw up the violin. Nothing in my rant was directed at Scotty. My only direction toward him was if I used his mounts my trans would have lined up without having to cut into my floor. I had a couple guys I was talking to about finishing my truck for me. Scotty was one of them. Unfortunately he lives and works 12 hours away from me. Another guy quoted me 14k in labor alone and any extra parts I didn't have.. That's the raping on price I was referring to. Another guy kept pushing these ugly ugly hooker manifolds on me that I do not want. I do appreciate you taking up for him though. He is a nice guy. I do apologize if my rant seemed like it was directed at him. It wasn't.

This misunderstanding bring up a good point though. It shows the process that a lot of us go through, and chronicles the details of our build process. Some good and some not so good experiences with individuals that are selling their products and sometimes wanting to take advantage in one way or another. But if you take your time to look around you may just find a great friend that you never knew existed before you started your project. Just like foamypirate and Scotty. I don't know their relationship or how it started, but apparently when foamy thought I was bashing Scotty he came to his defense. That says a lot about how good friends are and how a truck can bring people together. Unfortunately I don't have the fabrication skills or the mechanical skills that others possess. I wish I did. But thanks to these forums and some really cool guys out there that don't mind sharing their experience and knowledge with us that need answers and lots of help on occasion. Us less evolved shade tree mechanics appreciate those that help us out. Last edited by kidd79; 05-08-2016 at 08:45 AM. |

Lingenfelter gt9 cam getting installed.
Pic of the super charger is not the one getting installed. It's just a photo I pulled off the web of the same Cadillac ctsv charger that will be installed in a week or so, as soon as it shows up. |

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
I believe the high hump was off a 1977 c10, look on ebay. I did have to modify (bend) it and massage it a little to fit but was not bad. Check out my build for it.

Here is some more progress photos. Kind of hit a waiting on parts wall. Having to order a factory ctsv harness from Chevrolet and a computer. But still going forward.

Got the smooth lid for the super charger for a cleaner top of the engine. But it's in there with some ls simple brackets.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Got the hydro boost master cylinder installed. Master came out of a late 70's 3/4 ton. We used this to keep as much of a factory part as we could. That way later on if there's any issues with it,i can run down to the parts house and get a factory replacement.
Wiring harness and some other goodies finally showed up from the dealership..geez that took a while. |
