very cool write-up. I also share the same concept on my vehicles. Simple and functional. I learned that once I bought my '06 Silverado. I bought it brand new and was really anal about it always being clean until it got a few paint chips. I sold it a couple years ago and I really like driving stuff I don't have to worry about appearance wise. Original, including all the faded paint and scrapes is more unique anyways. People, me included, will look twice at a nice painted ride, but I will STARE at original patina.

great write-up...as time goes on, i seem to find myself falling more inline with Dino's outlook...loving the way you go about all your builds, & i can't wait to see how the big truck turns out

Re: A Suburban Joins The Herd

The patina rides scream work in progress, hot rods like this weed out the competitive snobs. Great car guys with beautiful finished rods look at the patina-ed rides and see creativity, cool stance, and what they would do to finish it. Good conversations will come from this, and respect. jmo

I'm just starting on my truck and have a long way to go, but the one thing I keep running into, is how hard it is to keep the finish presentable. Its so fragile and I don't focus hard enough not to damage it when I'm working on it. So either live with the character marks or frustration will make you park it. Dino and Delmo build great rides, and they sure drive them.

Man where do you find them all, and their so smooth, other than the typical bad places. Great patina, will it remain or is paint planned?? Have fun...

Dude, you have got it bad...

My wife would kill me if I brought another truck home

Looks like another great project in the works soon.

Re: A Suburban Joins The Herd

Well since you seem to trip over trucks every time you leave the house my wife wants a 65 short bed of her own so next time you leave the house just shoot me a pm with the location of one so I can arrange to have it shipped

You leaving the big 6 in it? I recently discovered the one I pulled out of my 63 had well over 300,000 miles on it and still ran great.
