Thanks, I'm glad I kept them too, I really love the way they look. The tires are 255/40/20, 28" tall in the front and 295/40/20, 29.3" tall in the rear.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

I vote stay with the big block , You have a very nice big block already , they have many new efi options available now if that's the route your looking for , starting at reasonable prices , as for overdrive you can sell your trany and get either a 700r4 fairly cheap or if you want a more strong one then get a 200r4 out of the gn , it's a much easier route , but if you like to complicate yourself like me !!! Lol !!! Then go with the ls , and no I wouldn't dare had pulled my bb for an ls , specially now that i heard gm won't produce the good old big blocks anymore , good luck

I thought that was Lay's potato chips?

I can only give the perspective from having an LS in a 67-72 C10, as that is all I have owned. It is nice that the fuel injection and computer make them very dependable, but it is expensive to make power if you don't know how to and have access to software to make changes to the computer yourself. Our local tuner charges $250 for a tune with one alibi. The LS is going to be much lighter so that is a plus. Also, the LS engines don't leak like the first generation engines. The one thing I have a problem with is the look. The LS engines (at least truck engines) are ugly. If you look at a first generation small block and the available accessory drives, they provide a very balanced look. I have yet to find this with LS accessory drives at least at an affordable price. A big block can make BIG power with very little effort, and there is nothing like the sound of a big block. There is no replacement for displacement. This is the real nut and bolt of this issue, I have changed my mind about things a good bit and I am tired of doing things two or three times. Do you want to further delay the completion of your truck and increase your cost? If you are cool with that then go for it, but if you want to ride then get on that body work and don't worry about the next fad in engines. If you, we, continue to chase the next cool thing then we will never get finished. Just my perspective. (I need to follow my own advice!)

I wish, maybe one day I will be lucky enough to have another one but it would probably never get finished just like this one.

My wife and I talked about this very subject tonight. I can't keep changing things over and over again, I will never finish it. My truck needs a lot of work to finish and I'm tired of people always asking when it is going to be done. I never know what to say and usually just laugh. So I decided that the BBC is staying, I will try to upgrade parts of it as I go along and the budget allows. I'll start with a overdrive transmission and then add fuel injection and a roller cam at some point. I do love the way it looks and sounds so why bother changing things. And I agree about the looks of an LS motor, especially the truck motor. I just don't like the way they look. The car intakes look a little better but still nothing like the old school motors I grew up around.
