Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Alrighty then, on to the progress pics. I ordered some Hedman Hedders part #68608, they are the mid-length 1967 Camaro/Chevelle headers. Summit had them for the least coin. $333 shipped.
I test fitted the passenger side first and they fit perfect and luckily the trans lines that I bent a few months ago turned out to be perfect also, guess I got lucky again. I didn't get so lucky on the driver side. There is a post that is floating around out there that says these fit perfect on both sides with no mods, that is not really true. You can see the header is high toward the back of the block because it is hitting the motor mount bracket. Pay no attention to the dust and bondo sanding mess that is everywhere, we are still sanding the 39.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Aggravated, I pulled out the trusty grinder and started throwin sparks. I know it looks like messy grinding.....because it was! I had to cover everything in cardboard which made it difficult to get to.
After taking out about half an inch or so, the header dropped into posistion leaving about 1/16th of an inch clearance......good enough for government work!! Promise the next pics will be of a cleaner engine bay!!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
the Headers look great, sorry to hear about the fitting problems.
I was planning on getting this same set of headers. I wonder if it would be smart for me to mod my mount tower and flush it out on the top rather then have that hump sitting out there that much where you had to grind

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
It's painted, at least I wiped it with alcohol before I did it. Rubbing alcohol.....not the good stuff.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Another small update. I got the HEI wired permanently, installed my one-wire alternator and played musical belts till I got the perfect one. Also, got some spark-plug wire looms installed and covered alot of the wires under the hood. The first pic shows the aircleaner that is under my custom cover. I will be building my new spark plug wires tomorrow, so more pics!!!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
looks great. I was thinking on the idea of these billet type wire looms and also had an after thought maybe even using the style of wires and connectors the old corvette's used to use and wrap the wires from behind the motor and from under the headers. just an idea if you dont like the looms.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window
Got the new wires temporarily put in so I can measure them to the distributor then make my cuts. After wiring them through the new wirelooms I think they look great and they are staying on the truck. Spark plug #6 has to be ran differently than the others because it is too close to the headers. But the short dipstick tube worked out great.
