Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I bought a pair of Dorman 2.5" center-dump ram horn manifolds. Despite having never touched an angle grinder in my life I decided to remove the brackets. Not perfect but turned out OK. Bought some VHT FlameProof primer and paint, and UPS just dropped off a bunch of transmission goodies for the weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Finally got my new (used) Saginaw in the truck. I have never had one soooo cantankerous. Had to temporarily remove the emergency brake cross member to have room to jungle the tranny in. Few more things to clean and button up underneath and the ole 64 should be mobile again. Right now, rest. IT feels like someone beat my arms and shoulders with a ball bat. These trannys felt a lot lighter 40 years ago.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Got the rear axles back in after having them drilled 5x5. Now I need to take another measurement for the rims. I really wanted to put 10" rims back there but it looks like it will be to close to the fender.

Next week is the wiring harness install.

You'd be amazed how easy putting a torch to those for a little bit makes removing them. I never had a torch until a few months ago, and was having issues with this as well. Heat it, comes right off with no problem.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Got some new color on my 65 this week and weekend. I was tired of it being so many different colors. Still has plenty of work yet to do on it but I can at least start to see some progress.

I am by no means a painter and this is not a show truck but rather a driver that I can get out there and have fun with. I am happy with the direction it is going now. Was thinking about a Faux-Tina paint job to start with but nothing overdone.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

I had Mr. Miyagi standing over my shoulder telling me "wax on, wax off" as I wet sanded, polished with Meguire's #7 and waxed the passenger side of my truck. It looked about like the attached pictuer of the drivers side when I started. Now I need to go get some more 3000 grit to continue. It shines a little now.

I ordered wheels and tires today, Boss 338 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear with Nitto 555 255/45 and 295/45, couldn't pass on the free shipping on both orders!

No leg pullin', I'll do the other side in the next couple of days. Right now I'm being lazy and don't want to go get any more 3000.
