Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Hey guys, been looking around for a few days & decided to join since there are alot of beauty trucks on here.. Thought I'd show a couple pics of my new baby & see what you guys think.
1987 Chev Custom Deluxe, rebuilt 355 multiport fuel injection with corvette heads, rebuilt 700r4 tranny, shift kit, true dual Flowmaster exhaust, 4" skyjacker lift kit, 33" inch tires on 15x10 rims. I'm planning on putting some work into it but here is what she looks like. The second picture isn't great quality, but let me know what yas think |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
This a neat way to see a lot of trucks and hear a short comment from the owners. This is my 86 GMC Sierra Classic LWB that has 38K original miles. Unfortunately I am going to have to sell it to make room in my hangar. I really hate to see it go but I have to juggle it and the airplanes just right to have enough room to close the door and then I can not get what I want in and out easily. There are some very good looking trucks on this site, and then also the ones that are near and dear to the heart of the owners. The beauty being in the eye of the beholder of the Long Bed. Ken

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Thanks for the replies. I have been a "lurker" here for quite a while but have just recently signed up to post. I need to figure out how to modify my profile. I am on my 5th full time driver Chevy truck, plus 6 Chevy Cars, and my 2nd GMC truck. (72 GMC "Jimmy 4X4" was the first)
For a 25 year old truck it is in very, very good condition. It has one unknown dent about the size of a golf ball hit on the hood. [87 chevy silverado] I know what you mean, a little different, but fits in well with the rest of the chrome stuff and aluminum running boards of the day. The back bumper is heavy duty chrome (like the ones you get behind at night and they blind you) to go with the shiny dual tank towing package. I really did buy it from the little old lady that kept it in the garage after her husband died. She said her son drove it around on the first of every month if it was not raining to keep it loosened up for many years. I suspect he did not go further than their one mile square though. With being kept in the garage the cloth interior still looks great. It is cleaner than my everyday 4X4 LT Suburan. I usually need more seats than it has or I would use it as a really "special" daily driver. Someone once said "originals are only original once" so I planned to keep it a few years. I had also been thinking about a Chevy 4X4 rock crawler, but decided to go with a 2 seater STOL Savannah VG that will fly 29-88 mph and operate in and out of a 100 ft grass strip instead. With a highwing span of 28 ft, it will clear the GMC bed, but not the cab, so guessing which one will I will "drive" next is getting tiresome for stacking. I also have a 32 ft lowing in the same hangar much of the time, so I really need more space. We think it is a neat truck, but we are tired of moving things around. [To the site operator.] If you happen to monitor. Thanks for the great site, there is a large amount of various detailed information here, especially for odd ball maintenance items I have used in the past. Excellent!! Ken |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
and 78 Chevyrado
I will take a few more pics when I am back over there in a couple of days. I was not ready for the "online" car show. 87, -- it looks like your truck has had a lot more fun in life than mine just sitting in the garage all those years. I do see that you have electric windows which mine does not have. You have done a lot and I am sure enjoyed every minute (or almost) of it. Usually there is at least one bolt on every project that wants to be a pain, but the project as a whole is usually satisfying. I recently retired and am just getting back to having time for projects like I used to, but I still have a lot of "have to" projects that I need to catch up on before I can get to the "want to" projects. There does not seem to be as many car and truck shows in the Tulsa area as there used to be. I need to poke around and find some schedules. I hope all of you are enjoying the Holidays. Ken |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
OK, here are a few more pictures of my 86 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic with 38K original miles to go with the first pics. I did not expect the thin layer of dust on the dash to show up as well as it did, and I should have closed the ashtray where my cell phone was plugged in. I need to clean it up a little and Armor-All the floor mats. As you can see the wing on my Savannah VG just fits over the bed, it is in a hangar. I really need some more room, but I would hate to part with it. Thanks for letting me be in the "Truck Show". Enjoy, Ken

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Right now I do not have access to the color codes, but the dash top/seats/carpet are the standard 1986 maroon or crimson color that was matched with the standard bright red exterior and lower red metal on the dash. The steering wheel is black. My flash seems to have overpowered the camera on the shade and the consistancy of the interior colors. The interrior looks a lot better live than in the photos except for the rubber floor mats which need replaced. I have owned this truck about two years. This truck not been detailed or had anything done to it in several years (if ever) and could use a little TLC that I have not had time to do to clean it up a bit. I have more free time now and hope to get to that this spring. It might be fun to be in a live Truck Show if I can find one locally.
Wow, your 80 with 19K must be in great condition also, I will search and see if I can find pictures of it. Ken |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Very nice truck Ken! If you clean up the the inside don't use any sort of armorall, it seems to do more harm than good.
