I've heard nothing but good things about the Hydro Boost brakes.

Thumbs down Re : GM Hydroboost Brakes

O.K. , we had these on nearly our entire Fleet and it was not so good ~ whenever the V-Belt failed , you lost brakes and steering both at the same time , usually the belt failed when some idiot cut you off and you braked hard .

Just beware that all is not roses with this system .

I hope to never had any vehicle so equipped .

It also has a rear sport bumper on it....too bad they jacked it up and have all the weight resting on the bumper

Ahhhhh...You saw that too. I was looking for a glove box latch when I saw it, I only had a phillips screwdriver with me.

Did you get your truck back yet?

Welcome to the SoCal page. Feel free to ask question, drive down to a few meets. Or host one if we can get enough of us to drive down to your area.

I used a place near me in Gardena. It was reasonable, just took a bit longer than I wanted.

No, they probably won't finish until the end of the year. I am not worried, they are doing a fantastic job so far. Did you end up finding a glovebox latch? If not, I have several and can drop one off next time I am at my in-laws house.

Thanks Scott and Vince, I found the latch the day I was at Pick-a-Part.

I was driving my truck today and smoke began coming through the dash speaker grill. There was quite a bit of smoke, it started to fill the cab. Because of where it was coming from I thought it was coming from my radio so I shut the radio off, pulled over as soon as I could and the smoke slowed then stopped. When I got home I pulled the radio, no sign of any heat so I pulled the glove box to get a better look at the situation, no melted electronics, wires or anything else. I opened the radio, no sign of heat. I looked over every square inch under the dash, no sign of heat or damage of any kind AND everything, EVERYTHING still works, the radio was still playing when I shut it off. Everything in my truck is new, wiring harness, electronics...you name it, it's new. What do you guys think?

Did it smell like wires were burning or something else?

Smelled like burning plastic/electronics. Makes me uncomfortable to not be able to find the cause. Talked to the radio manufacturer today, they say "not coming from the radio" but that I should bench test the radio to be sure. I had lost the left front speaker channel a week or so ago and the radio manufacturer says it may be the "pigtail" (wiring harness) and they will send me a new one. The smoke problem cropped up after I lost the channel.

Post Re : Pick-A-Part 50 % OFF Sale

Not this year as it's always a real zoo .

I have been meaning to ask : are C/10 & C/20 trailing arms the same ? .

I suppose I shoulda gone and looked for a good cab , I could either use it or cut it up into repair panels .

Instead I went to Kaiser for pre surgery workups (they finally gave me a Surgery date of 12/6) then passed out in my recliner reading the new Tom Wolfe book before getting off my duff and de rusting the gas tank in my Metropolitan Nash FHC....

Nate looks like your going to be coaching from the sidelines for awhile. Its all good, get better youngman. Dont worry, we will still have projects for you to help us out with. Besides im going to have you slide under my truck to change my trailing arms. You know experience before youth. LOL
Take care.

Re: SoCal checkin' in

Checking in from West Torrance/Redondo Beach area in the South Bay. Great to see so many active socal users here!

My rig is a '77 K10 Silverado. See pic in my sig.

Does anyone ever organize any meetups or group activities around here? That would be pretty fun to meet with other truck owners.
