Re: 63 stepside SWB project
thx for your service first, I was gonna ask If I could come by and check out the ride in person, so i'll have to wait til ya return. I'll take some pics of mine soon, how was the hook up for the bags , i plan on bag on the cheap, using schrader valve and was not sure how you went from the air bag line to the schrader valve?
thx |

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Thanks for the support Ironbutt_lcmc.
Dadsredwagon, yes you will have to wait lol. I cann't wait to see pics of yours when you post that is one thing i enjoy is all your guys post and pics. You can bag yours cheap with the way our trucks are designed. Youl just need a bracket for the bags for the top and the bottom i think will be ok may have to drill some holes. The biggest thing you will have to worry about is camber. When you lower it the wheels does not bow so much. On my setup the schrader valves are smaller in the back than in the front. i do no know why but that is how they are. I guess cause they are from two different companines so to make it easy on yourself make sure that it is from the same company. I think my front is from Slam Specialties and rear is firestone. If you need any other info let me know will be happy to share my knowledge.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
45 days till project is reborn. Well everyone it has been a long year. Got a few ideas brewing up for the truck when i get back. Called the shop where the engine work is being completed which will be a 350 with a turbo. They need to get the truck in the shop for the mockup stage but due to it being in my garage they cannot. The shop is in houston named Natanials High Performance. Also looking a recommended paint and body person. I have to give Nathan a call and find out how to install the front shock mounts for the shocks. I know i have to get those powder coated and then installed to complete the suspension. As for the bed i will get the opinion of the body shop if to go with the bed i have or to purchase a Mar-K which will run about 1200 without the wood. Next is getting ideas on where to put the air tank for this baby. ChiefRocka had mentioned in back of my seat or under the bed so i will see on that. So as you see i am getting everything planned and the biggest part will be the body work on the cab or maybe i am to hard on judgement. i will start keeping everyone up to date on the purchase so it will be there when i arrive. Thanks for the forum support and keeping the pics coming to see that people are still continuing their dream

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Sweet man...sound like your on your way to build a sweet truck !!
Another thought, as far as air supply, you could always box in the frame rails, and use them for "tanks" as well....Like the area right under the cab. Not sure what volume your after...but this way you would not take up any space.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Can't wait to see more progress on your truck. As for body shops, do not use Kustom Werx. Randy Borcherding of the Painthouse in Tomball is really good.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
I couldn't find any website for him. Below is a link to SuperChevy.com and has pics of a really nice Chevelle he did. When he was at Color Etc., he had done some work on a friends Chevelle. He is a really good guy to work with.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Hammered,
That car is amazing, I am definitely impressed but I hope he is reasonable in price and i do not have to take a morgage loan out lol. Truely a guy with some talent and would also let him work on my 57 chevy. Do you know what type of price he charges?

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Hey Anthony,
I am not sure what how is pricing is. It was fairly reasonable when my friend had work done on his Chevelle, but that was almost 10 years ago. From my experience with bodyshops, if you find someone who does good work and is honest, it's worth it to pay that extra because you know what you are getting will be good. |

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Does Natanials High Performance have a website, I googled them but couldn't find anything. Looking to have a custom exhaust system made. Do you know if they do that?

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Do u have a local parts house that sells semi truck parts
you can get the fittings , plastic air line there , make sure your air tank is the approx same volume as the 4 bags added up, go right to 3/8 or 1/2 inch the first time or youll be like me my car has 1/4 inch and its so slow in and out i need to up grade hope thats the answer you were looking for |

Re: 63 stepside SWB project
Great info everyone on the valves. I am in San Diego now so i will be home a a few days and can pull the truck out and get some messurements. Also Nathaniels does do custom exhaust and a whole bunch of other things. There number is 713-782-8666. The website is http://www.nathaniels.com/home.shtml so check them out there. Great guys to work with and you should be seeing the truck there in about 3 weeks for the engine stuff.
