Re: Got Rust?

Thanks for the compliments fella's... That picture actually makes the Jimmy look better than it really is. There's some rust on the "cab corners" and a scratch here n' there, got some funky bondo in the tailgate. Still a work in progress.

We definitely need to do a dune trip this year, that would be a great time.

guys...

End of summer is fine, I'm in either way, blazer done or not.

Got the bed floor of the swb finished up yesterday so I can get that chunk of iron outta the shop now.

Mighta cooked the motor in my blue blazer snow wheeling on Sunday though...
Something about that 10-minute 5K-RPM assault up the mountain it didn't like.

That's cool that you're in, but the motor doesn't sound like a good thing.

Not so bad, either freshen this one up (stroker 383) or if time won't allow, throw in one of the three crate motors sittin' around the garage in it.
Like the first option better, probably pull it and give it a quickie rebuild.

Still hoping to get my blazer build finished and drive to Mich. rather than trailer the off road blazer over.

Whatcha get done this weekend?
If you need any parts, let me know.

Re: Got Rust?

So it wasn't anything like a rod came out through the block to say "Hi" or anything that bad...good deal.

I got nothing done this weekend, I had my boy and it was so cold that I didn't feel much like braving the elements, plus it seemed like I was constantly on the go. This weekend coming up will be different. I may need a front drive shaft...how do those come apart? I haven't pulled it out yet, but the splined end sure seems to have a lot of slop. Oh well, I guess we'll see.

BTW, your bed floor turned out great!

Re: Got Rust?

Well I finally got out to the shop to do some work this weekend. I got the rest of the stuff (tranny, transfer case, gas tank, shocks) stripped off and the wheels changed, thanks to Joe. I am ready to begin the blasting process...boy what fun this will be! Not much to see but here is what it looks like now.

Don't feel bad, almost everything I know, I've learned in the last couple of days.

Re: Got Rust?

Looking good Tim!!! Let me know if you need a hand Sun., I'll be home this weekend with NO plans.. Oh, by the way, Did you see the Harbor Freight ad? They had some media blasting guns pretty cheap. Of course, the quality might not be the greatest.

Thanks Joe. I won't be getting much done this weekend, going to Ludington for the weekend. Thanks for the offer though.

Didn't see the HF ad, but I'll have to check it out.

Re: Got Rust?

Well...got a little done...a little. Actually I built a tent around the frame, got out my blaster and started blasting. Boy does that SUCK! I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try to finish it myself or take it to a guy who quoted me $400 to blast the whole frame and axles. I think I'll give it another shot, but try to get in the right mind set first...maybe 5 or 6 beers before I go out. I guess we'll see what happens, but I've got to get going on this thing if I want to be ready to have it running by this fall.

400 sounds like alot. The cheapest price I got on my tub was 250. That was the whole inside and out. Only another 90.00 to put it in primer. I'd call around. Are you using a siphon feed or pressurized blaster? Sand or Black Diamond/Beauty?
