Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Ok, here are a few ideas I've been playing with for the bottom of the dash and console. What do you guys think? My buddy suggested I use the top edge of the old dash on the bottom. I mocked up some of the leftovers I had and this is what I have come up with. I spray bombed to help with the visualization. With the console coming out of the radius. With the console meeting the dash below the radius. I am kind of leaning toward this one. I might twist the right side of the console up higher than the left so it tilts toward the driver. The other idea is to cut and drop the bottom of the dash 3~4". Don't laugh at my crude MS paintbrush skills. The console would fit in kind of the same way to the bottom edge.

Wow, your truck is start to take shape. Looks good. Thanks for sharing your pictures of your build. It takes time and money a place to work on a project. I'm jealous, I don't have any of the above right now. Keep up the good work.

I like the second one, with the console coming out at the bottom.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Are you converting to right hand drive too? Or does the passenger get their own speedo??? What are you using for seats? will the console run between them or into them?

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
lol, I'm going to put something to fill up the second bezel but I'm not sure what yet. Maybe an LCD display or a painted logo or a speaker and clock. Right now my rough plan is to have the console run between some low back buckets and have the wrap come up to the bottom of the rear window and around to the rear of the door jam like the old Corvette did. It will be only about 1" deep along the back of the seat. The wraparound may not work so might not get used.

I saw your dash extension a few weeks ago and it got me thinking about something for my truck.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
I haven't made much progress lately I did rough in the lower part of the dash. The ends will flow into the arm rests or some feature of the door upholstery. I still haven't decided on how I want to flow the console from the dash but I am going to wait till I have seats so I can build it to match width and height.
A friend pointed me to this build yesterday. This is kind of the look I was wanting to go for around the seats. This is a C10 built in Texas by LMC and was in Truckin. I still haven't decided if I'm going this direction either. Our plan was to finish the truck in a light to medium green satin finish with a shop logo on the door. My daughter has been messing around creating some logos. I think she may be on to something.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Nice art work! I've also been thinking about putting something on the doors of mine. I'd like to do something with a flying/airplane theme. Did you get the "donor" we spoke about?

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
I'm making room for my donor car so I went to Lowe's and spent $75 on wood and casters. I made a new tool to pick up the cab. I got the idea for this tool from 1-ton of fun here on the board. And wood and casters to make a stand to sit the cab on so I can move it around.
This one works great. Ahhhh, mobile

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
The donor arrived today . 85 Vette, 73k miles, auto. $2,500. Runs and drives good. Most everything seems to work too.
The wife took it for one last drive.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
WOW! You scored with that one! It looks super clean. Are you planning to use both the front and rear suspension's? I also have a TPI setup that I'm thinking of putting on mine.
Keep the updates coming! I'm headed over to Spain and Italy for 2 weeks so no progress for me. Here are a few motivational shots for ya!

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Thanks for the motivation ChuckDriver! I'll use the front suspension for sure. Now that I'm going to bag it I don't know about using the Vette rear.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
You're welcome. By the way, you've not only got great taste in trucks but in dogs too! My "Sooner" looks nearly the same as the dog in your avatar. I assume he/she is yours? Labs are great dogs. They give grerat automotive advice too. They sleep on the floor right next to you and when you ask them, they agree with every idea you have!
