Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Thanks truckzilla, yeah its actually challenging to come up with an idea on what to do, I like your idea have to take pictures so I can see it. I mean I don't mind putting it back under the hood by any means but if I do, I want to ahve something different and kind of have it reinforced you could say. It's going to take some time to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it.

Its sad, I've had back issues and stuff with me playing sports all my life, but since I've started working on my truck as much as I have its actually improved a lot weird but I'll take it! I'm hoping to get the doors, also what I can of the cab, and then all that will be left will be to get the rear fenders done and I'll have a fully primed truck and can rock that need a paint job style haha

^_^ Im cheap with paint....Im doing The "Blitz Black" from John Deere but you can also paint cheap with a roller and rust-oleum like many members on here. They call it the $50 paint job and will probably cost you $100 but takes time and patience and a lot of sanding...Which scares me because i suck at the sanding part and think i would screw it up especially in the wet sanding and buffing phase

I'm not bad at sanding I do a pretty good job with the help of an electric sander of course lol I had a friends dad tell me that I could do that I'm confident I can do it but I'm like you I rather not screw it up, I'd feel more comfortable paying someone to do it might cost a lot more but at least I know it'll be done right.

all you need is the finest grit then buffing wheels and a small thing of turtle wax and some brake fluid mix. clear coating would be the last step, so you would have to hose off every piece of dust, wax+brake fluid, and sand to get that nice last finish try the brake fluid on a bicycle, and a good disposable nitted rag

I have the original shroud and everything, I mean the way the battery box is built is a good design but you can't always prevent battery acid issues so that's where I would want to figure out a way to give it an extra support, or something like that

Yeah I know I'm going to replace it for sure and still try to come up with something and it's funny you actually say that I was think that when I got my new battery box thought about drilling a small area kind of slant the box just a little and put some tubing of some sort so that if it leaked goes straight to the ground.

I agree great minds do think a like.

It's fine no biggie man I already know what I'm going to do, I'm planning for an LS1 or LS2 swap, go put all the typical goodies in it heads, cam, headers, intake, supercharge, and tune. All that good stuff haha but my goal for the motor is I want to get anywhere from 650-700lb/ft tq which give or take should put me high 500's-low 600's, still run pump gas and try to get about 20mpg city. I would love an LSX but I'm not dying to have one plus the cash those things cost is crazy.

Haha I might, but yeah i'll prime it all day but painting is a little too far out of my comfort, plus I want it the best possible job done and I know myself I would be too hard and would be over critical about it so I rather just pay someone who knows what there doing.

true i do have excentric line of painting things. brake fluid? my dad taught me that trick, + i owned a car and buffed it out with turtle wax and a buffer, no brake fluid, took a top layer off and let the coat under it gleem, shined like a beautiful peice of gold.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well I believe its going to be official now, I have decided on the color my truck will be painted its going to be Instena Blue Pearl (Lexus Blue), White Pearl (Lexus White), and Pearl Grey (Lexus Grey), the pearl grey will be for 2 stripes that came on my truck when I purchased him, I'm going to get it redone and just put 2 thick stripes on the hood to replace the 4 stripes that are on it right now. I can't forget either I will be having some pinstriping done to which that will be just be like a crimson red. This is exciting I can't wait to get it done!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Thanks man!! Yeah reason I'm doing the grey is to throw a little contrast to the truck and give it shark colors since its called SharkBite, and for interior I'm thinking simple and basic just a black and blue.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Haha yes sir it's the SharkBite C10 the reason I came up with the name if your wondering, it's because naturally sharks aren't too aggressive unless they sense blood or you piss them off well that's going to be my truck is going to be tame, but when it wants to be pissed off well I'll let it be pissed off haha.

Actually I don't know if I will or won't but originally I was actually going to put a shark with its mouth open on the inside of the hood but I don't know, it was an idea not sure if I'll go through with it though

That I am very sure of and as the truck gets more and more complete I'll have a better idea of how the truck is going to flow and I can even make certain decisions then, but painting it is one of the last things to do on the truck.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well it was raining saturday and all I was planning to do this weekend was body work, and since it rained and me using just a regular spray can for primer I still didn't want to risk it, but no worries like I said this coming up weekend I'll be hitting it hard want to try and have it fully primed before the new year so we'll see how it goes. Just hopefully it'll be cool or warm up a little here in Texas woke up this morning after having it rain most of the night it was a tad bit on the chilly side.
