Re: My 67 short stepside
Those tail lights just blend in and disappear without them lit up. Really cool.

I did the switch to 345/19's more for height than width. if you put the wheels side by side, there is a little difference in width, but the shape of the tire is a little different too. the Michelins seem a little more squared off at the shoulder. 335/345/355 all probably look the same from a rear view. I'm usually powersliding mine sideways through the first three gears, so the vaporized rubber hides the view of the tires for the most part. Rollpan, tailgate, header panel, bed strips, latch kit, bolts and wood are all Mar-K. I used the stock bedsides and fenders, that's about it. I used their regular smooth rollpan with the license plate box, then cut the slots for the lights. As far as the help, that's what this forum is all about! I like the way you did the back of your cab - I only welded the seam, but yours look even better with that peak rolled out the way you did it.

Re: My 67 short stepside
Thanks Adam for the advice and yes I really like these forums for the been there done that... and should have went another way aspect. Seems like there are some great people in this forum.
Thanks, the peak I think will turn out pretty cool when we finish, a lot like the Goodguys giveaway truck done by Scotts Hot Rods. I do really like the door handles, my wife wants originals but... Have ant pictures of your truck from the side? |

That is why they blend in so much... painted over. sweet idea. Mine will be Dark Sapphire candy blue so I do not think they will show up. Awesome idea though.
What does your interior look like? |

Re: My 67 short stepside
I'm waiting in line for the interior - I'm 'next' so he says. Supposed to be this month, then 4-6 weeks to complete. Ring Brothers and Lokar hardware, scat procar rally seats. Nothing special.
I could've easily built two trucks with all the screw-ups and do-overs I had, no to mention saving a TON of money.

Re: My 67 short stepside
I am going with a buddy seat with Katzskin black leather covers. Maybe some suede to keep me in the seat when corning.
The tires coming loose and not gripping is what I am worried about too. We will see. I guess 800 plus hp anything would loose the grip on the road! |

Re: My 67 short stepside
Adam,
So you have a cage? Did you use the Art Morrison kit or have a shop make it weld it in? Hell of a start on the interior |

Wow, 800hp?! yeah, it only takes about half of that to get loose in one of these trucks on street tires!

Re: My 67 short stepside
Adam,
Your cage look good. I am trying to stiffen the chassis up, so I am going to use an Art Morrison 10 pt and make the door bars low so it is easy to get into. Will have down bars low though the cab and bed. I have the engine built just not dynoed. We are thinking at 15 lbs of boost it will be over 900 hp. We will tune for a little less. Heck it may not make but 700hp, not sure. The parts are there for some serious hp. Going to run some road courses and good guys auto cross events and the Texas Mile. |

Re: My 67 short stepside
You definitely have a top notch build in the works. It will definitely kick much @$$ with that LSX454 and the blower. I plan to 'debut' my truck at the Goodguys Spring Nats in DFW, and wring it out on the autocross as well. I hope to see you there!

Re: My 67 short stepside
Holy smokes! You do some b!tchin' work there man and FAST! Judging by the gear you've got to go in, you are used to fast I'm sub'd up and will be looking for the burnout video next week. What's with all the heat exchangers in that photo a few pages back?

Jlsanborn,
The picture with the backspace tool? That was taken in my office. I manufacture those style tube and fin coils. Not used to fast, only second big build. Trying to get ready for Texas Nationals in March. Zach |

Re: My 67 short stepside
This build is not about beating anyone, Rob is a great guy. It is about building my first truck when I was in high school again with my two boys and wonderful wife. I really that is what this hobby is all about. Now thrashing something you built is always lots of fun!
