Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
ARB or OX lockers if you can swing the cash. Detroit otherwise for the rear.

Looks like it's going to be 4:56's, with a Detroit locker in the rear.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Anybody know anything about the Yukon Grizzly 14 bolt lockers? Saw them on ebay, and price looks good, but never heard of them.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Got my rear disc conversion brackets today from DIY4X. They look great, nice welds and all around good looking product. Gonna put on a coat of primer paint to protect em till I can mount it all up. Good price too, $76.00 shipped for the pair.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
WOW! Just wrestled the 1 ton axles into my garage. Snow is going away and needed to get them inside before it completly thawed. Used my S10 4x4 a tow rope and a chain to drag them close, and then my floor jack the rest of the way. Doesn't seem like much, but a big step for me. Axles have been in snowbank since Jan. 2nd, and had to get them inside.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
I have decided to go with DIY4X's rear shackle flip & switch kit with some new shackles. Talked to Kert about what I might need here and got some solid advice. Swapping out the stock 12 bolt for the corp 14 blt, getting rid of the 4" rear blocks, wondering if I will need to add the ez inch also. Possibly not just for the 1" of lift, but to recenter my axle a bit? Any thoughts? Getting ready to order up the parts, and want to get it right.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Working on getting all the rear corp 14 bolt disc brake conversion parts. Got the brackets from DIY4X, and need the rest of the parts to finish the swap. Anyone know of a online source I can pick up the rotors, calipers, hoses, etc. I don't have any cores to exchange for the rotors and calipers and am looking for a way to save here. Any help?

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Thank's. I think I'll just go down and talk to the "parts counter guy" at the local auto parts stores. Got a few here, Autozone, Advance, and a couple of independent that carry the major name brands. Going outside right now to paint up the DIY4X rear disc brackets. Looking to order up my shackle flip and switch kits real soon.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
As alway's, I think I have made another mistake on purchasing. Love the new DIY4X's rear disc brackets, even put on a nice coat of flat black paint to protect from rust. Looked harder at one of our vendors site, and I think I have found what I need here. He offers a oversize (14.25") rotor, calipers, pads, brackets, bolts, etc, as a kit. The oversize rotors will clear 17" wheels, this setup sounds real good for my plan. That means I "might" have a brand new set of DIY4X rear disc conversion brackets for sale soon. Anyone running the Blackbird rear disc setup?

Right on VT. Blackbirds Custom Trucks. Only sells complete kits, won't sell the parts seperate. Looks like a good setup.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Not much new here. Working the major overtime, hopefully to fund my swap. 60-70 hours a week leaves no time for much of anything else. I plan on going with the Blackbirds rear disc kit as soon as I can afford it. Has anyone here used it on thier 14 bolt rear?

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
www.blackbirdscustomtrucks.com Telling me no one here has ran this setup on a 14 bolt rear? Wow, I am going to order their new large rotor kit. Soon, maybe sooner! Heading out to the storage barn this weekend to check on the K5. Really want to get it home and do some wrenching and maybe not pay for another year of storage. Really looking for some feedback on the Blackbird rear disc setup, any help?

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Spent a couple hours cleaning up my NP205 crossmember and my t-case skid plate crossmember. Bought both online, and both were real dirty and greasy. Shop just up the road does sandblasting, so gonna drop them both off first of the week. Already cleaned up the t-case skid plate and primered it black. Went out to the storage barn and took some pic's of K5. Been there since 1999, and it's time to get it back out! Any pic's of rear disc conversions yet?

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Dropped off the np205 crossmember and the skidplate crossmember at the blast shop. Should be ready for pickup tomorrow. I will spray them black when I get them home. Will try and get some pic's posted up soon. Again anyone running the Blackbird rear disc setup on a 14 bolt?

Got the crossmembers back and they look good! Hard to believe 40 year old steel could look like new! Sprayed them flat black and both of them are ready to bolt on. Will post up pic's asap.

Re: Ready to go 1 Ton/K5
Back looking at 8 lug wheels for my setup. Want to go with a 17" wheel, possibly beadlocks, leaning toward Trailready, any comments? Plan on going with a 40" tire also. Please post up some pic's boys! Want to run the Blackbird large rear rotor disc conversion, and want new wheels to fit!
