Re: 1978 big ten build
half way done with the trans rebuild. this trans was rebuilt at some point and who ever did it was not the smartest gearhead out there..... the 1-2 accumulator spring was broken and he just put it back in.. on the modulator valve he didnt put the spring back on. over tightened everything to the point is mashed up the parts. also spent today getting the bushing kit and the lip seal tools also got the control valve assembly cleaned which took at least an hour just to clean it was full of friction plate goop. and got the shift kit springs installed. tomorow ill be installing new bushings, seals and starting the re assemble process.

Re: 1978 big ten build
the trans is almost done come to find out the po took the 2-3 accumulator spring out. iv heard of people doing this and shimming it to make the shift crisper but this wasnt shimmed. so ill head to a local trans shop and see if they have a spring if not then ill have to go and order one off the internet.

Re: 1978 big ten build
Instead of buying the comp cam and lifters I decided to just replace the lifters and push rods. And save for a crate engine.

Re: 1978 big ten build
Lookks congested where you park, a bit of everything. It is -25 here right now with about 1ft plus of snow, but not to slippery.

Re: 1978 big ten build
finally broke down and bought a stero system. a kenwood kdc-152, a pair of 6 1/2 2 way speakers, 400 watt dual amp, 2 boxed 8in subs, and a pair of 6x9 duals. im wanting to build a console on the trans hump. that will hold the 6 1/2, my tach and temp gauge. has anyone ever done this? id like to see pics if you have them.
