Re: My 67 short stepside
Just getting measurements for LSX motor mounts. Then back off with cab. Tedious work.
Having an issue with Currie Fab 9 and c notch clearance too. |

Re: My 67 short stepside
Not much progress. We started building my son a 1949 deluxe cab Chevy truck with LS and auto transmission. I have a few pictures of the 67.

Re: My 67 short stepside
Thanks for the updates - this is my favorite build on the board right now. Of course I'm a little biased... That rendering looks killer!

Re: My 67 short stepside
Thanks Guys. We are trying. My son's 49 five window has taken some of our time; however, that is what this hobby is about.
I missed on the header notch, oops. Will have to pull a little more out. |

BossHogg69, we will not make Goodguys with my truck in a few weeks. Yours will be the best one there.

Re: My 67 short stepside
I WISH I was going... I shelled the motor in my truck a couple weekends ago, so I've taken a few steps back. #1 spark plug looked like it got beat with a 20 lb sledge hammer and antifreeze poured out of #4, 5 & 7. I just put it in the garage and haven't touched it since.

Re: My 67 short stepside
We changed gears, we are going to a Tremec T56 Magnum instead of the TCI six speed automatic. We will use the TCI six speed auto in my wife's 1968 Firebird we are building.

Re: My 67 short stepside
Can't beat the fun factor of a standard over the auto, good choice.
Funny on the header notch, stuff happens hey.

Re: My 67 short stepside
Sperger, the truck is going to be KILLER!!!! love what your doing, keep it up.
Adam (BossHogg69) sorry about your motor. all I can say is build it bigger & badder. Speaking of GOODGUYS. That is my goal I have set for myself. I plan on having my truck together for the fall event late September. We'll see. lot of work left for just a few months.. Thanks guys, let me know if I can help in any way. Casey |

Re: My 67 short stepside
1. AWSOME BUILD!!!
2. You obviously know what you are doing. Looks like you should be building custom trucks for a living. with that shop and your skills. 3. Looking back to 9/30/15 0858 am post. Top left picture of the roof removed. What are the row of holes in the fold on the rear part of the back wall and how to you reconnect the new roof along that area? Thanks and looking foward to the finished project. |

Re: My 67 short stepside
Mud man, thanks I wanted to go Tremec T-56 six speed to begin with but thought my kids and wife may want to drive it. Now we are building them stuff too, so doesn't matter now.
Casey, thanks. Maybe mine will be done for the Fall Texas Nationals Quick60, Thank you. I have help on the truck. The picture you are asking about are the spot welds on the peak of our old trucks. We cut that whole section out and radiused the roof to make it look more rounded. |

Re: My 67 short stepside
My 70C10 I just bought lately came with a new rebuilt T5, I know it's no Tremec but glad it's a standard, way more fun to drive and taught my girls how to drive a manual, they aren't great but have gone to university anyway now so all me mostly, enjoying your build.

Re: My 67 short stepside
Mudman,
The T5 are great too. Shifting gears is a blast. Looking to get mine on the fast track soon. We have stopped work on the 67, to start and try to finish my son's 49 Chevy five window. His truck is in paint currently so we are close to getting back to my 67. I have to box a little more of my frame and tap the frame for steering linkage then we are ready to paint or powder coat the frame. Then the LSX and six speed can drop in its home. Can still needs lots of work, the tough was rough. If it wasn't my high school truck I would have used a different cab. Good luck with your truck. Just purchased a 1971 Cheyenne for my 14 year old son. I got my 67 when I was 14. |

Thanks Ryan. We are going to get back on it soon. My sons 49 deluxe cab truck came first. He graduates in seven weeks and wants to drive it to school some.
