Looks great. What is the length of the front piece to the carrier bearing then the second piece to the rear end? A buddy gave me a two piece that I'm going to cut down also.

Thanks Adam I'm pretty excited to see it looking like a truck again. I can't wait to drive this thing.

The truck is still at my brothers house so I will get you the measurements this weekend. I only have the front shaft built so far, hoping to get the rear shaft done on Sunday. Then all I need to do is have my brother finish weld my rear bags mounts and it finally comes home

It was probably mcbassin, I already have a Boyd's tank just haven't installed it yet. Thanks for the offer though

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Worked on the truck some Sunday and today. Got the driveshaft done, had to add a 1/2" to my carrier bearing spacer to get the angles right. My spacer is now 2 1/2". Finally bolted down my trans crossmember and fully welded in my rear bag mounts. I'm happy with how everything turned out.

Great job on the driveshaft!

If you wouldn't mind me asking. What is the length of the rear shaft?

Thanks buddy, the rear shaft is 34" from front edge of slip yoke to the face of the pinion yoke.

Thanks, it took a little work but beats spending all the money to have a shop make it for me.

Re: Project "What was I Thinking" 68 SWB

Well guys my new year resolution is to be able drive this truck under its own power. I'm not saying it's going to be fully done but I want to be able to drive it. I think it is a realistic goal.

Who is going to paint it? To me, that's the biggest barrier to making your goal.

Once you get it painted and in your garage things will happen in a hurry.

Well unfortunately I will be painting it myself. I plan on having it painted by the end of summer, don't know how good it will actually come out but I'm going to try. If anything it will buy me enough time until I can have a professional paint it. Who knows I might actually do a decent job

My other option is to primer it all black and just put it together and drive it like that for a couple of years until I have the funds to have it painted. Everyone around me including my wife wants me to do this and I'm still contemplating it.
