Good luck with the web endeavor Alan. Just make sure you read anything you sign up for. There are good and bad deals out there like anything else. I have seen companies in the past that give you a template and all the tools to setup your page pretty easily. They can even handle all the credit card stuff for. Just make sure you look through all the info you find and don't jump into it. I think it is something that could take hold. Who knows maybe someday we will be watching you on Spike TV.

Thanks for the advice. I just hope I can stay focused, I'm so distracted right now with everything that is going on. I've had 3 other people contact me about fixin' their cars (collision) it is too soon to tell if anything will pan out. My delimma is I don't have any more room at home. I might just do it at work.

That's what I was talking about Allan. Rent a bay from them when you have work generated by yourself. Of course you will have to charge the customer more for the extra expense. Raise your labor rate to cover it. You can be on your way to be in your own full time business.

I noticed you used Slick Sand a while back and I'm wondering if you prefer to spray it on bare metal or do you epoxy/etch prime first? Evercoat says you can spray it on bare metal but I've never done it so I thought I'd ask around. Thanks

I love that stuff so far. I see you mentioned in your build that you can't spray it over etch primer. Hope I didn't mess up on my truck. I sanded most of the etch primer off during the repair process, but some still remained. On 198's truck I sprayed it on bare metal and seems to bond well. When sanding it feathers out good when metal pops up.

It's not as back breaking. Just bought me a creeper from hf yesterday $15. My dog hates it he pulls me all around the garage by my feet. Gets kinda dangerous. Good to hear about your new work.

I use a 3m 1991 stone on a die grinder then go over it with 36 or 50 roloc. Then wipe it.

my body man friend once showed me some 36 grit scratches that you could see through the paint in bright sunlight, is that just because they wern't prepared right before paint, or will you always be able to see them?

I fill 36 grit scratches with filler and prime. As long as it is prep right you won't see the scratches. Don't count on the primer to fill 36 scratches. It will shrink causing the scratch to show up.

if I am doing bondo , and my ground weld bead becomes a high spot, will I be able to gind it a little more, or will I have to completely clean the bondo off that area, grind, and start again?

I've had that happen before and if you gring the high spot lightly not creating much heat you will be fine. It you create too much heat it will cause the filler around that srea to let go.

also one other question.
I am not really ready to start doing bondo work.
can I put some paint over the welds, and then buzz it off and bondo it later? Or am I going to have to sandblast the paint off the welds in order to get it clean enough for the bondo to stick.

That would be fine. It's easier to remove paint than rust.
