My building was supposed to be started in the first week of January. It was the end of February before anything happened. Once it started, it was constant delays that were completely avoidable had the contractor just performed his job. Keep your head up, it's all worth it when it's done. I've got a crew finishing the install on my heat pump setup for mine today, missed all the necessary months for cooling purposes, but the heat will be nice in a month or two.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Working in the construction world you see all kinds of contractors. From the over the top, you must do it the hard way to just get it done. Most contractors are good people but sometimes I think they like to promise the world and end up with less than. Some contractors are better spec builders than custom builders. Hang in there.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
With winter and fall coming or if it’s already there for you guys weather will play another roll in framing it. But once dried in it’ll move quick. Glad you have a shop to piddle in. It truly will be nice.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So lots has happened, my builder did show up Friday to finish the insulation around the pad. The gas is hooked up and capped at the pad and everything is back filled and graded.
Saturday we went and bought all the $3000 of wood for the building and it got delivered today. We then moved it all into the backyard. I used child labor today and of course CJ had to be apart of it to. My brother is starting Wednesday and should have it framed by the time we come home from our trip.

Progress is nice. It would really be nice if it was ready when you get back. Walls and all. Then you could just wrench. Lol.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Lower50s,
Amazing build you have there! As a Chevy ‘55-’57 big back window guy, I usually don’t follow too many AD threads, but after seeing your fuse/relay power distribution center [PDC] on another thread I just had to read your entire thread. Again, absolutely a cool build. For some reason, not too many builder’s choose to build their own electrical wiring system. I plan on building my own electrical system, using a PDC (30+ fuses and 16 relays) behind the cab in an environmentally safe enclosure. Glad to see others do their own electrical systems -- a good way to lessen the short-comings of kit manufacturers. FLJerry |

Re: My 52 GMC Build
So I'm back trip was great, I'll get to that soon.
Shop is coming along nice almost to the point I was hoping when I got home. My brother is doing a great job. Trusses got dropped off just before we left. 3 friends and I carried them into the back yard. 21 @32' long and we figure 250lb that was some work. The steel for the roof is now sitting in my driveway.

So trip south was amazing and truck ran great, no issues at all. Wednesday Oct 18 we drove 5 hrs to Grove city PA and spent the night. Thursday we drove 10hrs to Charlotte Motor Speedway. We where at 65mph with the cruse control on all the way there. 780mi and used 55gal of fuel, that's 2 1/4 tanks of fuel. 2 fuel stops 14mpg

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Trusses are all up in the shop!! We are roughing in wire tonight.
Friday night we went to Detroit Speed's open house with some friends of ours. Wow the show there was as good as the Goodguys and seeing the shop and how clean everything is was amazing. We asked an employee, yes it is always this clean, and everyone was happy to work there. The dually truck had a 6-71 Detroit diesel in it sounded amazing. (history lesson) That motor is where the first 6-71 super chargers came from.
