I pulled a third gen Camaro speedo out at the wrecking yard to take a look at it.

They are bolted in from the back side and do not have mounting tabs for screwing them in place on a truck cluster. I'm sure you could figure out a way to install one but it wouldn't be as simple as the tach install.

Re: My camaro tach cluster-done!

I just got done adding the camaro speedo as well. I mounted the tach and at first it was ??okaaayy??, but I just didn't think it looked at home. So I started looking at the speedo too.
the camaro mounts through the back via two screws. Which makes it imo a bit simpler. They have the same basic shape of base. So it worked out well. I had to cut out the 4x4/choke housing first. Then I used the piece of insulating foam the camaro used (I guess for anti rattles?) for a template for the mount holes. One falls on the edge of the factory hole. So I only had to drill one and half moon the other hole. Then I had to put a "c" notch in the metal speedo cable clip to clear the mount screw. Flatten the 6 o'clock position of the gauge face slightly to clear the bottom edge of the cluster housing. I used the blue indicator from the camaro and the foam gasket from the truck. So the highbeam indicator worked out perfect. Then I drilled a hole in the lens for the trip odometer reset.
All in all, the speedo part was much easier than the tach/fuel gauge swap. Pros: much easier to read, 110mph gauge, matching combo. Cons: losing the seat belt, 4x4, choke, and brake light warning lights. However it wouldn't be hard to make a custom solution for those.
