Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
Come on down. My shop fridge typically has three things in it: beer, water, and a bottle of makers mark.
Since this photo was taken I discovered you could get Michelob Lite again so now I drink that.

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
It didn't/doesn't happen. I don't use any of my power wood working equipment, either when alcohol is involved. Once a container opens, the tools get put away. In '75 or '76, we were kicking back after a work at the shop, and a farmer came in wanting an oil change. I put the jack under the cross member and commenced jacking the truck up. Well, I misjudged, and the jack slipped out and dented his oil pan, just a ding. He wasn't concerned, and the boss was OK with it. I personally would have replaced it, as I felt really bad about it. Bottom line, if something goes sideways, and you have even a little alcohol in your system, it could get ugly. That's just me, though. Now that I'm old, I'm even more conscious of the stuff that can go sideways just because I'm old. I can't pick up the weight that I used to, can't wrench all day in 107-degree heat, stuff like that. I worked for 47 years, so I guess I'm entitled to take a break when it gets too hot/cold or I get too tired. I commented to my one son that now I'm the go-fer when we're working on things around here.

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
Well, we all should use good judgement in regards to safety. But wrenching for pay and wrenching on your own stuff are two completely different animals when it comes to things going sideways. For legal reasons, if no other, a person should not consume even the one beer that is considered to not impair you when "on the job". When things go sideways, especially in this age of law suits, people will look for anything at all to pin you down on negligence. It takes a lot less than having a beer in you. Those lawyer shovels can dig deep!
Speaking of beer. I have a new favorite, Corona Familiar. It's dayum goood lager! Brown bottle and all. Just good beer.

I don't do that much alcohol, I learned my lesson on hard liquor in my much younger years.
But I do enjoy a ICE COLD FROSTY MUG of Coors Light, Corona Light or El Macho Mexican Lager from Dying Breed Brewery. Do not care for the IPA's or Dark Beers at all. http://www.dyingbreedbrewing.com/#ourbeers |

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
I don't drink much at all, maybe a six pack a month? I LOVED the specialty "root beer" beers that came out for a couple years, but they faded and are gone now. I think one was "Coney island root beer" and the other was "not your fathers root beer."
For the most part I like most of the Sam Adams seasonal beers. Octoberfest is pretty good this year. They changed something in the summer ale... I don't like it as much anymore. Cold Snap is still my absolute favorite. Going to have to stock up this winter before it's gone. I also really liked Porch Rocker this year. I just had my electrician put a stand alone plug in the corner of the new shop for a beer/Dr Pepper fridge

An open one.
I can remember the time when it was hot out and I'd let my hair down and be popping the top on one while I was chuggin one down. That was yesteryear.

An open beer would make it easier to drink!

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
I knew a guy in Idaho who could pop open two pints of beer, turn them unside down, and have someone pop the bottoms with a churchkey, and slug them down as fast as the beer would flow. Since he somehow was able to bypass the gag reflex, opening his esophagus, it took maybe a second. Never seen anything like it before, or since.
Same guy was driving down the shoulder in his truck, almost in the bar ditch. Chief of Police was going through the drill, asked for ID, etc. He pulls out his wallet and hands him a $20. Chief says that's not an ID, he points to Jackson, and says that's my picture right there! Chief puts him the back seat of the cruiser and takes him home. That's a small town thing; he was a good guy. I hope he got help before he killed anyone. That was back in the '70s. It was the kind of place where, ahem, some people could get into a physical altercation and they would just separate the combatants and make them walk home, and get their vehicle(s) in the morning.

Victoria longnecks are very good. Also tried one of these last week…..pretty good, if you like the salty tomato beers.

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
Has anyone tried Corona Familiar yet? Damn good brown bottle lager.
I know, right? I see people using those huggies and wonder, "Does their hand really get that cold holding a beer?". I asked that when with a friend and he told be that's not what they're used for, they are to keep the beer cold. I said "A refrigerator or ice chest works better for that". He said, they are for while the beer is being drank. "Huh? Don't they like beer???" If I had a favorite beer to drink when working on my truck lately I wouldn't be drinking beer. My favorite lately, for all occasions is Fat Tire Ale. My three I rotate between, with Fat Tire being the standard, are those, Corona Familiar, and Stella Artoise.

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
Here's a Beer I drank the most back some 40 years or more was Olympia beer made in Olympia Washington
If one looked through the bottLe from the other side of the label,,you could see a dot or 2 dots or 3 dots for 4 dots After carefully pealing off the label Each dot had a meaning when you had a gal sign the label; 4 Dots being the most popular. The gal who signs one has to do what the dots indicate if someone gives it back to them. Four Dots {means put out}} you can guess what the others dots gave you..

Re: What kind of beer do you drink while working on your truck? Pix or it didn't happ
I never needed dots on a beer bottle to do that for me
Back in the '70s I drank Molsen beer in green bottles. No, not Molsen golden Ale, which became very popular later on. I'd ask bartenders if the had Molsen beer not ale. "Sure!" and they'd plunk a Golden Ale in front of me. I's push it back and say, "I said beer not golden ale. They also make just an ale, too, in case you didn't know" Molsen Beer, "An honest beer makes it's own friends"... Great motto! I miss that beer. They brought it back in brown bottles and it's honestly not the same beer
