I gotta admit that it was tough buying it since it cost more than I payed for the truck itself but I’m a bit excited!!

Heads and block are at the machine shop now...heads being being reworked and cam bearings pressed in...hope to start reassembly middle of next week...

Of course this is all gonna snowball...I guess the only left to do is everything else...

The older I get, I realize that I don't have time for patience.......

While the big stuff is at the machine shop, I had to do something to stifle the boredom...thought I'd work on these trashy valve covers...got 2 sets so I'm gonna try somethings...

1st pic...when your shop doesn't have water yet and your parts washer is in pieces...you use the kitchen sink, Duh!

2nd pic...Ok! this stuff is a $1 at Dollar Tree and works better than Gunk!

3rd pic...It isn't perfect for small crevices but man, I use my restorer on everything!!

4th pic...these things may be more trouble than they are worth!

Whamo, I'm all in on your process with your truck. I will offer some background in case that Holley is returnable. I don't want to rain on your newly established high-tech parade, but you may want to read some threads about the Sniper. There was a recent one that ended up being rather poignant, haha. You'll see what I mean. Maybe you are caught up on all that. The factory throttle bodies for those engines are actually quite good up to the point that they are an air restriction. They are readily available and there are great modding tips for them. Harrison Performance or TBICHIPS.com is a great resource. I will watch whatever you decide to do with interest.

Man, did I ever research! I scanned this forum, google, read the reviews, the do's, the don'ts and drove my Wrench buddy crazy with questions! Finally, I landed on the Sniper...but because I am a freak, Rusty (wrench buddy) and I are going to Holly school in January...

Good luck with the holley stuff. I went the "cheap" route and went the ls route. Fuel injection is pretty awesome.

After a bit of miscommunication with the machine shop (that sounds more scary than it was) I finally got the block and heads back.

I was very happy that the heads checked out with no cracks and all the block needed was a bit of honing...I was going to do the head mods myself, but things got so crazy that I had the shop do it...my Wrenching Yoda has used em for years and swears by em.

They cut down the valve guides for the new cam specs and replaced the press-in studs with the good ole screw-in ones...

Hoping to start assembly after Christmas but need to wait for another paycheck to order the Edlebrock Performer RPM manifold with the air gap (more on that later).

I like to be a bit different and decided to change things up a bit on the engine color...the block and valve covers will be VHT's Cast Iron and I found that Duplicolor's Racing Green is similar to the green in my Studio logo...I think I dig it...

Oh! I feel ya! This ain’t no tractor!!! I tested out several high temp greens before I settled on the Duplicolor...

Been moving a bit slow the last several days and it may be late next week before I get back on the motor...had some funny things happenin in the ole chest and the doc tells me I need a bit of a resto-mod myself...headin in to get a stent or 2 shoved into the widow maker artery...

But! I did get the block painted...the color is VHTs Cast Iron - it's not as silver as is looks in the pics...

you all just wish you had my mad paint masking skills!

HAHA, I have a hard time giving free advertisement to companies that I pay full price for their products. If they gave me a discount then hell yeah, my truck would look like a NASCAR!

The motor looks good so far! Looking forward to hearing how the Holley EFI works out... I ordered the FastEFI but found out it was 3 month back order and just bought a Holley 670 Street Avenger and called it a day. Havent had any probs so far. I have always have had good luck with Holley stuff.

Just got back from a 10 day mission trip in Kenya...We were working on and assessing a school in a small villiage outside of Nairobi...going back in May and December...
The infrastructure of the school is insanely pathetic...but the kids are amazing...I can post pics if anyone is interested...

I hunted for a C10 the entire trip and didn't see Any I did come across these interesting trucks though...

Had to include the motorcycle pic...3 people on 1 was the norm...on 1 we saw 2 dudes and 3 goats - no joke!

A, I have done similar things myself and I know I'm not the only one on here who has. B, there are lots of good-hearted people on here. C, it's your build thread and you should post pictures of your water heater installation if you want to. D, anybody who's not interested probably knows how to scroll down. Have at brother! I would like you to meet Mutheau. She is the 1st student that I made eye contact with and she changed my whole view of why we were in Africa and what we needed to be doing.
Her story is intricate and amazing. I will mess some of the details up, but here are the important parts:
Mutheau was born with a rare form of Hydrocephalus (water on the brain) that reoccured several times in her infancy and doctors did not believe she would live to the age of 10.
At the age of 6 she had an extremely large head and was unable to walk because of it.
Around this time, her mother carried her to church (the church we were there with) to ask for financial assistance. The church welcomed the family in, helped them out and began praying over and for Mutheau...within months, her head had dramatically shrank in size and Mutheau could lift her head. The doctors had no explanation for it.
At the age of 8 she went to Pastor Fred and asked that he change her name. The name she had been given at birth, by her grandmother, meant darkness and fog...Mutheau realized that her name no longer fit her and she wanted it changed...She was christened Mutheau, which means hope...
Mutheau is now 12...She is quite small, has some physical issues and is rather behind in school. But...she is rapidly learning, her handwriting is meticulous and her math is better than mine. She is a bit shy but her smile is demanding and she is absolutely delightful.
Take this for what you will...you can poo-poo the prayer part, you can say it was all coincidence that makes for a good story...what you can't write off is the faith this little girl has in her Big God and how He used her to grab my soul and shake up my world.

Hey Whamo, thanks so much for the story! I was touched by it and captivated by your picture with Mutheau. That shy but huge smile and the cute reaction to the attention of being photographed backs up everything that you told us about her. The strength and joy in such a little one is almost too much to take. Her audacity of asking to have her name changed is powerful to me. I would love to hear any more about the trip that you would care to tell. You are probably right that some are not sure what to do with the part about prayer and healing. But that's ok, people can scroll. Myself, I am skeptical about healing stories, however I believe what happened with Mutheau. I say I'm skeptical but the funny thing is I am personally acquainted with a couple of people who have been healed. But I don't have any problem with folks being uncomfortable with the idea, since I'm not, despite what I know. And some things are just plain hard to understand or explain. Thanks again.
