Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
The trans was converted from 4wd to 2wd, and the guy that did it told me to bring it to him. But it was toast. The warranty he gave was for the conversion stuff. By not having the trans computer tuned and whomever was driving the truck before tuning the trans toasted the clutches. It's been repaired now after some months down the road and my dad staying on me about getting the truck to where I could at least drive it.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Sorry for not answering you guys sooner. I took a huge step back and put the truck aside for a while. My best friend in the world (good ol Pops) finally talked me into keeping the truck and going ahead and getting it running and driving. Man I cussed that truck, got aggravated with it, wanted to light it on fire, I even kicked it a few times. But in the end I stuck with it. Had to have the trans rebuilt. That was a $2300 repair. It's up, running and driving now. Funny thing is now I'm running into a whole new set of issues that are horse power related.... LOL. We made a little bit of power after it got tuned by Matt Sanford over at Derailed Motorsports north of nashville on 93octane (Fuel contains up to 15% Ethanol.. That's what the pump said when I filled it up... LOL!!)

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
I've been through the whole thread and I couldn't find if you said what mount you used between the trans and the hooker crossmember? Doing this same swap and need to know what isolator you used. Did it come with the crossmember? Thanks

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
No sir. It didn't come with the hooker cross member. It's a standard energy suspension trans mount for any th400, 4l60e, 6l80e. I don't have the part# off the top of my head. Two bolts that mount to the trans, one stud that mounts to the cross member. Hope that helps you bro. "A" lol. ;-)

Been cleaning up things under the hood a bit. Watched a couple youtube videos on how to bend tubing. I think it turned out ok for my first time.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Called the guys over at Little Shop MFG and got a set of their stock size wilwood front disc dual piston caliper brakes. considering they are "stock" replacements installation was quick and easy. Had to get a conversion hose to adapt the trucks hard line to the wilwood caliper, but that was straight forward too. They have them in stock. And yes, I have the dust shields installed. Was mocking things up to see how they fit while waiting for new dust shields to show up in the mail.
Also went on and ordered the caltracs. Man.. Those things definitely helped out a ton!!! |

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Got tired of not having any reverse lights since the cadillac tail lights don't have them installed, so I got creative. They don't put out a ton of light, but at least people can see them when I'm backing up.

Looks great. Does it hook up better now?

Nice work on the hydroboost hard lines. One of the best installs of that system I have seen.

Re: 86 C10 LS 6.0 6L90E Swap
Well. After this whole COVID BS. The economy shutting down, life acting a fool and a ton of other reasons that shall not be gone into on a forum, Beastie has been sold to her new owner. It was definitely a long project, lots of money, time, blood sweat and aggravation. Even with all the ups and downs I think the experience was worth it. Made a few friends along the way, even lost a couple. But still worth it. Thanks to everyone that helped out along the way. You all kick ass!!
The party ain't over though. Once things settle back down and return to somewhat normal I'm sure the 71 that I got to replace the 86 will be getting some LS attention. |

Sorry to hear you got rid of the red truck, but the '71 looks like a great starting point!

Yes sir. The 71 "Earl" as I call it, has pretty decent bones as far as I have seen so far. It's a stock 350 block,882 heads, mild roller cam (specs unknown), lifters and rockers with a TH350. Nothing wild just yet. |
