lincoln gasless flux core mig welder. those are the first passes ive done since i set my welder up last night. it was set to neg lead to the ground cable and positive on the tip when i got it from a friend. finally relized that if i flipped the cables in the box, i could weld more than 1/16. now i should be able to weld up to 1/4. if anyone has any tips or comments about the welds let me know. i dont plan on doing anything structural....just shock mounts and extra bracing that may or may not be needed.

Keep the heat high for better penetration. It looks like your heat was too low and and your drag was too fast.

Re: 86 squarebody made2drag

The more heat the speed you need.Cause if your heat is hi and your speed is slow your gonna blow through. Try it at 5-7 speed and see how that works.

i used 2500's which are small and dont require cups. cups help with lift and also keep the 2600's or 2700's up high enough off the lca so they dont rub and blow out. you can use 2500's as long as you are able to keep the bag centered so it doesnt rub. some people weld a little plate to the bottom of the lca and drill a hole to mount the bottom bag bolt. if your using 2600's and up, you can cut the lower bag cup down an inch to get the bag as low as possible before it rubs. its best to use the cups and then cycle the bags up and down and see if you can cut the cup. it is easy to take them back off after you test fit it if you end up cutting an inch off them. another way: look at lucifer's 73 build for pics of cutting the lca's and welding a boxed in plate so it ends up being a lowered control arm and also room for bigger bags to sit way down in the arm. if you build those you will save 230 bucks because you wont have to get drop spindles. it should be easy for a cerified welder....you can do it

and by the way my front bags were $94 and my upper bag plates were $34...fittings and line were $20. you could do a shrader valve for $5. so around $160. this would get you started until the rest of the parts and the rest of the puzzle are done like spindles and tank and comp and switches, etc.

cool! glad you got everything. make sure you get a stepper bit. it will make it a lot easier to drill the holes for your upper bag plates. remember to use a spring compressor.....dont do the jack-on-the-lca trick. if you get in a bind like its under the lca and you cant move the jack how you want it....you're screwed! last tip......spray some penetrating spray on all the bolts a day before. bagging the front is time consuming but worth it in the end. cant wait to see your build! take lots of pics.

ps. i wish i could take credit for the welds....lol
