Re: Project Cannonball C10
Love the build. Would like to do something like this to my 73 Jimmy one day, although at a much lower level than this build.
I'm curious as to why you went with a 4-link in the back as opposed to an IRS, given the handling goals for the truck. |

RS's cantilevered rear IRS looks absolutely amazing and I would love to have that, but it would have killed all the utility of the bed which I do plan to haul stuff in. |

I'm using one of those wheels after seeing yours. That looks like the perfect blend of stock-ish plus sport. Hopefully the thicker wheel feels as nice as I'm thinking it would.

Re: Project Cannonball C10
Well I think I have the motor plans all sorted out and ordered up. Hope to see the short block arriving in the next 3-4 weeks. Going with a stroker LS3 which should be a nice bump in power from the stock motor. It will be my first LS motor build so I'm pretty excited about that. Decided tonight to ditch the GM ECU/wiring harness for a Holley Dominator EFI setup instead. I like the self-learning features and the editor interface seems comfortable to me. Dominator setup worked out well for the Roadkill guys on the Crusher Camaro during their trip across the US, so I'm feeling confident in running this for the power tour
Stopped by the shop on the way home to check on a few things and really started to notice things coming together: materials have arrived for the engine bay work, cab is all cut open and ready for cage install, and the stereo boxes are starting to take shape. Grabbed a photo of driver's side with all the body parts attached. Looks ready to drive |

Re: Project Cannonball C10
One of our project goals is to even up the weight distribution, so we have concentrated on trying to shed excess weight from the front end. One very cool idea Wes came up with is a custom aluminum core support. This will shed weight, allow us to run a bigger radiator and coolers, and allow for an inside hood release combined with the '74 grille.
The finished product showed up today... Lots of room for the radiator and oil/trans/steering coolers |

Amazing build and I love watching the pictures roll on in. The bod blows me away as how everything is done with the idea of making it look stock.

Re: Project Cannonball C10
Its a one-off piece for now. Wes is considering doing a limited run of them for others. Its a fairly custom piece though in that it fits a 70's Trans-Am radiator size (bigger than the truck) and will hopefully allow the 73-74 grill to work with an internal hood release latch
