Yeah that is way too much for a tailgate. I think I'll survive with the repop heck most of my truck besides the cab and parts of the doors are repop.

The part number is 925-4067-2. Just type it in the search box, for some reason they don't list it under our model of truck. I cross checked the part number on AMD's website and it is the correct number.

Like I said in your thread about gates, I have had two NOS gates, and weighed a triplus/keyparts gate and it was slightly heavier than the NOS gates...Also, the welds on the end seams are better and metal thickness is the same so I am a fan of their gates...I know earlier reproductions (and some cheaper brands) were junk and have seen my share of bent aftermarket gates but you shouldn't have any issue here.....

Thanks, yeah I'm just hoping it fits right without any issues. I still need to get all the hardware like the handle, latches, links etc... before I can try it on.

I think I have an extra set of hardware out there somewhere in my salvage. I can look this weekend. Unless you are wanting to buy new stuff. I know for sure I have several gates that aren't worth anything...

Thanks Mike I'll let you know, I have an old scrap gate off of my other 68 I'm scraping that I'm going to try to rob the guts out of. Hopefully everything is usable but if not I'll take you up on that offer.

Been working on the interior of the cab, the back wall and up under the dash. Sprayed rust converter on any surface rust followed by Eastwood rust encapsulator. Then I seam sealed any of seams and sprayed Boom Mat on just like I did the floor. It has come out really nice. Plan to put down dynamat, hush mat etc. over the boom mat spray before putting carpet down. The back cab wall won't be seen as I will be putting in a custom stereo.

I got my junk gate off today and managed to save the the latches, rods and the link assembly's. The trunions and handle were rotted so I need new ones. I got everything blasted and primered up. I'm going to order a new handle and trunions from GMC Paul's, should have the gate on by next weekend.

It's rubberized similar to an undercoating.

I'm still going to use Fatmat or Dynamat over top of it. I wanted to try to keep the cab as cool and quiet as possible and also we did so much welding on the cab that this stuff covers it up nicely without having to do bodywork or anything like that.

not sure if you have heard of it but try researching Nvx vs Fatmat or Dynamat from Sonic Electronix. thats what i went with just seemed like more bang for the buck IMO.

Eastwood also has a similar product. Not sure how it compares with the others as I haven't tried them, but I've got the Eastwood product in both my vehicles. Definitely cheaper than Dynomat. Just another option for you.

I was looking at the Eastwood product, until I read the reviews of it on their own website. I went with Hushmat and so far and pleased with it. Here's a pick of it about half way done.

I don't have anything to compare it with so I can't give you a recommendation of using it over another product, but I can say that I am pleased with it thus far.
