Hey 1963chevyshort where do you get a rear bumper like that, is it just custom bent angle iron, aftermarket, or stock, I like the looks of it with the white stepside.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

I have some questions I love your ride I'm doing a 62 I'm so confused I want air ride dropped front rear and disk breaks all around can I just switch the cross member to a newer one with disk breaks and then buy air bags or do I have to buy a whole new crossmember from poter built or the place you bought one from I'm trying to get some kind of plan I'm down to just a frame sitting in my shop but not sure which way to go

Captain Fab,

I talked to the guy that had the 62 but he had already junked the frame so out of luck. I did call a junk yard in AZ and they will let me know tomorrow. Thanks Though

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

Johnlq,

I think it came with the truck when i first got it. I do not have it anymore. It looked like a fab weld when i really looked the welds on it. Nice and different

I will do some looking. I have a few of the 60-62 frames. Shoot me an e-mail... maybe I can build you some new ones.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

Nathan,

Just shot you and email.

Johnlq6975,

I do have a posi rear end with 3:73 gears. I also have the wilwood disc brakes for the rear all setup. The torsion bars came with the kit from air ride. Porterbuilt has a better rear setup for the rear and if i had to do it all over again i would get that kit instead. At the time i did the purchase they had not fabbed one up yet.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

Well called a junkyard in AZ that was recommended on the board and will have them towards end of next week. $150 plus shipping. I know better next time not to cut crap off my own frame for someone lol.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

Yeah $2K is a bit high for a cab and bed if you take it to them completely stripped. My friend that does blasting doesn't charge that much for a complete stripped car.

Re: 63 stepside SWB project

Hopefully that epoxy is compatable with a silica sand blasted surface.
