Re: Stolen....
It's good to hear of happy ending.
The 68 GTO I restored for my mom got stolen by some crack head. The Vancouver sheriff's dept raided a crack house 10 days after it was stolen and they found the car in the garage. These miserable wastes of oxygen had put over a thousand miles on it, the front brakes were completely trashed and then maybe in an attempt to repair them they pulled them apart, painted the pieces green and then reassembled them on the wrong sides (drum brakes). The license plates had been swapped from front to rear and they rattle canned the whole car a kind of desert storm camouflage paint scheme in which they masked all the chrome and trim off except the GTO emblem on right front fender. When the sheriff's found it in the garage of the house it was covered up in a huge pile of dirty clothing. All in ten days. I got a call at midnight saying if I could come get it then I wouldn't have to pay the tow charges. I bolted out the door and blasted to Vancouver. The car started but was so low on fuel it would stumble and want to die on any turn above 5 miles an hour. I limped to a gas station and headed home with no front brakes.

Re: Stolen....
Waste of oxygen is right. In 2011 my son moved to San Diego, and two weeks later his truck was stolen. That was a 1989 4-Runner with 75k (gulp) miles and new brakes. No comprehension insurance. He only paid $2600 for it, but it was worth far more, you can't replace something like that. Big bummer and another reason 2011 was the worst year in my life. You would not believe. Add it went out with a bang, literally midnight for the new year, proof of God I tell you, some things just don't happen on accident.

Re: Stolen....
I'm sorry I hijacked your thread an turned it into my own rant. Mom turned 80 a couple of weeks ago and the subject surfaced at her party. Even after 16 years it still gets to me.
Truly I am glad you got what was yours back and hope you can right what is wrong with it, and please do better than I have in forgeting the past.

Re: Stolen....
68 IRON, thanks for the information about the kill switch. Your truck is quite a bit better than mine, but I still have a little concern, so every little bit of info helps. I am going to work on some sort of a kill switch for mine. I am alarmed by the number of threads that come up when you search for the word stolen on this forum.
