Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

More from the small shop.

Check out the rivited copper seat.

Then we headed up to the big shop.

We all just walked around the workshop freely.
Steve had a long deep conversation about engine rebuilds and special tools with Bobby Madden and Larry and Hutch were talking drags...... and I took some photos.

This is where cars are checked, set up and repaired.

Did I mention George DRIVES his cars.

Bit more to add in.

After this lot, Hurch took us out to the hangers.

Suffice be it to say.

Mind Blown.

Ow look at this sheet very closely.

Every car had one of these on the front seat.

Kept up to date by the guys.

This sort of attention to detail is very impressive.

Some neat stuff there.
I enjoyed hanging with you at Kim & Clems. We are now official step brothers.

What Rian does when he's not playing my drums.
Sitting, waiting for tea, plotting a scheme with Todd.

Not home yet. Still in Wright City.

Flight at 6.30pm with Detroit stop over.

Hope to get home by 1pm Friday.

Some more.

Just in case you got bored.

Possibly my favourite of the day, along with all the others there.

Now just so you understand..........

These are only some of the wheels.

Seems George like to change the look and use of his cars.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Right.

Guess who is back in the UK??

I flew out on Virgin from Heathrow UK to Detroit (my hard case zipper halfway open when I collected my baggage to put it through for St Louis, I lost stuff but hey-ho and fixed case for next leg with big roll of box tape) then Delta Airlines to St Louis (delayed at Detroit) Virgin staff exemplary and Delta staff decent.

Return trip St Louis which is turn around spot for the Detroit flight, take off delayed by 45 minutes. This made our 90 minute lay over in Detroit a rush and walked straight onto plane elsewhere in terminal.
I also did ductape my case strategically on the return trip as I had spares and new clothes in there plus a 5 way race car oil pump for JohnnyBravon from Dennis.

When I got to baggage collection here today...... NO BAGGAGE !!

Was told by Heathrow lost baggage guy that I am not allowed to close my bag and try protect the contents from being scattered or pilfered.
Seriously tucked off by the situation. As my holiday was Spectacular.
Supposedly my baggage will be headed here tomorrow on a next flight and then delivered at home.

Back to more photos at George Poteets place.

Some of the hangars were just too big, so I did quick walk throughs.
Hope they are OK. Sound etc is not good at all but you will het the idea.

CLICKY LINKY.

ANOTHER ONE.

SAME CARS FROM BEHIND.

Bedtime now.

My clock is so screwed, I have no idea what I need to do.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

It was great being in the US with many friends again. The hospitality everywhere was magnificent, thank you all as well, great to see those I met, (2017 will be via Louisiana, landing in New Orleans if I can make it happen.) I will miss it. My gifts, clothes and knives are still in my baggage where Delta Airlines left it in Detroit. Hope to see all my baggage safely this afternoon.
I took a small antihistamine (piriton) at 8pm last night and slept 12 hrs straight to 8.30am English time. My body is super sensitive to them. Waiting for Katy to visit later.
Harley my cat is very pleased to have me home too. I fed her, made cuppa tea and came back to bed to carry on waking up. She came straight back up here and is sitting on my lap.

Time flies.......

Miss Katy arrived as I started this update. Last pics from George Poteets for the Hard Core still hanging around.

Into The Church.

Read it all if you can.

I also have a signed copy of a Speed Demon poster, thanks to Steve "Bib Overalls"

Lastly, not too many people can honestly wear this license plate bracket on their cars.

This concludes one of the many highlights of my trip.

The thing is, last year, meeting Rusty Escott - RIP in Waco Texas with his wife Deanna who had been a roady with the likes of David Copperfield, AC-DC and many other big names features right up here.

Every person I have met in the USA has enriched my life.
I honestly still have to meet an A-Hole.

My life is good.

As long as I have had my coffee, this may remain true Rian.

Hopefully if you make a run next year, we'll get to see if that holds true.
