Lift a 2WD Chevy?????? Pros/Cons

Well I have had my 1980 Chevrolet truck for about a year now and i have slowly been restoring and tricking it out. I am doing all the body work myself and i have redone the interior. I am getting a cowl hood, roll pan and getting it painted in about a month or so.

I am thinking about lifting it 6 inches: 3 in Fabtech suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift and put some 35s on it. I was just wondering if anyone has lifted there 2 wd truck and if they have, do you have any suggestions/pictures/pros and cons of lifting it? I am a little worried about the body lift and whether or not it is a smart move in the long run. If anyone has some tips or advice I would appreciate them.

i would suggest a 4/2 lift , more susp , less body , definately the way to go , i dunno how bad the angle your driveshaft would have , but now you dont have to worry about dropping a transfer case, anyway, go with a 4 inch lift, and 2 inch body at the max, youll thank me for this advice if ya get in an accident, the body can shift pretty easily upon hard impact if its that high off the frame, also when you get that big of a body lift, the gaps between the frame and box get quite hideous

Hey z71,
AIM has an upper control arm and 3" lifted spring which should do the job in front. The control arm has the corrected angle for the upper ball joint already built in.

im not trying to be a dick but dont lift a two wheeler thats just not kool un less your making a prerunner then go for it but i wouldent put 35s on it i wold go 33s with 6inch lift no body lift i have one on my 86 it tends to shift some

i think it would be cool to lift a 2wd personally, i want to lift my 81 c10 if i still have it long enough and also put the 14 bolt ff in placeof ther 10 bolt too, maybe body lift it too. and larger tires

havent figured up a good way of lifting yet other than body lift, so far

Is this going to be a daily driver, or a weekend cruiser? If it's going to be a daily driver, then you'll eventually have to get an alignment done. (sooner or later) With raised vehicles, shops will charge you out the butt. Just something to consider. BTW, be different. Go ahead and jack up a 2wd if you want to. It's your truck, whatever makes you happy.

for a 2wd I'd not lift more than 3" suspension and i'd leave it at that... that was my plan anyway...

then just find a transfer case later and go from there... don't think I'd be happy with more than a 3" lift either way though... but thats me

Ya after thinking it over some more I think im just going to go with a 3 inch suspension with 33s.
