Re: dana 44 spicer hubs dials

Mine have been cleaned up and are working great. One of the plastic dials broke where the pin goe's through, one hole only, I drilled new holes clocked over about 6 degrees and it works just fine. Of course it dosen't have the little extra bit of plastic like the original hole area and the dial pointer is off just a tad, but hay it works for now. Metal would be great in the furure.

Special-K your right the machinest would need to take in accout the coating. A nice lathe and they could be fairly easy to make. Good idea.

Re: dana 44 spicer hubs dials

Mudmizer,I did the exact same repair before.I couldn`t find the right split-pin,so I used a drill bit.It worked out just fine.I`m more picky,now and that would bug me on a "classic",though.(I`m sittin`on n.o.s. hubs,now)
These metal dials are a great upgrade.I always got the Warn Premiums because I didn`t want plastic.I think the powdercoat could be omitted, though.I think it will lift at the edges and peel.Especially with aluminum.Oxidation will get under there and pop it off. This is my opinion.I`ve had alot of experience with powdercoat and it`s got it`s limitations. It could last a good while, but I`d keep the material raw. You`re using premium corrosion-resistant metals anyway.

Oh,ok.You don`t have the lock-out option.Which is rares than having the option.I`ve,personally only seen a few and they were all 1/2t.It`s just a slightly convex plug. You need the complete l/o assembly.I`d like to see a pic.

Hey Ed, I've got 1 or 2 of those, (I call 'em drive flanges), no lochouts layin around somewhere. I thought they'd be handy to carry one around with me in case I broke a lockout hub sometime.
