Re: 5.3 an 700r4
I put a 700r4 behind my 5.3 everything stock. Trans lasted 2-3wks, recently had it built. An so far 3k miles an doin good so far. If u drive like grandpa wit a light foot you should be ok. But if you ever hit the throttle or have fun even wit stock 5.3 it WILL NOT LAST. Get it built.

Re: 5.3 an 700r4
Yeah if ya go threw a 700r4 an build it correctly with the extra clutches an valve body adjustments the are an extremely good trans an I can hook my factory speedo up to it I don't want any electric type gauges in the truck. If I got get the same performance out of a carved motor as the 5.3 I would just do that but a carved vehicle soaks down the gas some fuel injected is the way to go an I will just hide the computer somewhere out of sight . Also thanks for the links an info

Re: 5.3 an 700r4
You can get pretty good milage out of a carbed ls but you have to dial in carb and timing. There are guys on ls1tech that get high 20s out of there carbed 6.0s. I got 7 with the carb due to the carb being out of adjustment and me not knowing how to adjust it good. Put the ez efi on and now get 14 mpg in city with semi-agressive driving.

Re: 5.3 an 700r4
I saw a monte at ls fest running stock hood with the truck intake setup, but no idea what mount setup or anything he ran.
