I'm partial to the Jr. west coast style also, great visibility & makes for a good arm/hand rest when your rolling down the road with the window down and your arm out

Re: What side mirrors to use?

I picked up some 63 64 impala mirrors. Don't know if I will use them or not. I needed something to replace the crappy mirriors I have on my truck now that could cover up the hole that is there now.
I want to run the stock ones on my green truck. I like the west coast mirrors but the create to much drag.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Here is what I am switching to. I found that the round aftermarket mirrors with the mounting posts in the center do not allow for proper adjustment as it relates to the driver- especially on the passenger side. These should help. Just need a coat of ivory paint.

I have a spare '59 Chevy car mirror I think would look cool on my '66. Looks like this:

Re: What side mirrors to use?

I did end up buying these on Ebay. Car mirrors are just too short. These are a bit bigger. They come with backer plates that go on the inside of the door so they are sturdy. This is the picture from the listing because my truck is still at the paint shop.

Ive got something similar to this on my truck, open your vent window all the way before you drill for those - my PO didn't, and they now I can't open them all the way...

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Ebay. Search for M151 Willys or other military vehicles. Seems like I recall a thread here or on the 6066 GMC Forum discussing these mirrors. I've yet to receive mine in the mail so I don't know how/if they will fit the mounting hole on the OE mirror arm but I am not afraid of reaming it out if needed. These old army mirrors may even come in a convex shape for added visibility - esp on passenger side. I will post more as I go.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

What about the small mirrors of of a 69 chevy truck? My brother has them on his 69 I was eyeing them up for my truck. I still haven't had a chance to see how they look someone on this site might have an idea of fit and functionality?

These ebay mirrors are a really close visual match to the factory offset stud mirror head. I bought a half dozen. The studs are a bit longer than factory, (I think metric threads too) and mine did not come with acorn nuts. Also, of the six delivered to me, the glass disc was loose on five. They would've rattled like heck on the road. I complained and was sent five good ones at no charge .. just sayin'.

Not sure, but I think the source on these may have dried up.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

That's what I have on mine. Adjustability isn't the best, but I like the appearance enough to put up with it:

The driver's side works fine but there really isn't a place to position the passenger side for the driver to see it. At least the passenger has something to look out of!

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Here is what I have now , I found moving it forward like they did on the cars with the wrap around windshields made the visibility better by 100 percent .. but that being said I replaced these with round mirrors but they just don't give you enough coverage .. I am going back to a jr westcoast... did anyone have a part number for a convex round 5.5 - 6inches in diameter??

Hey I like that forward movement for those mirrors...yes the jr's are the way to go for sure.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

I used 55 chevy bel air mirrors, I can see out of them pretty good and I like em because they are more streamline.
