327 tranny question

I have a 2.8 liter 1988 S-10 which im using to do a frame swap on my 49 chevy truck. I am putting a 327 into it and hope to run about 350 HP. A friend told me that the auto trans from the S-10 would work find. I also found a guy would would swap the 2.8 liter motor and trans for a 350 turbo with overdrive out of a truck with a 305 engine. Which would be better and should I use the converter from the 305 combo with the 327 or get a new converter???? any help would be nice thanks
