73 blazer body on 76 frame?
Can it be done? Did they move the body mount pads on the frame? I have a line on a gen 2 2wd blazer thanx to this board making me think i need another blazer...lol. Most likely it will cost me 100 to 300 bux to aquire this new blazer...still unsure of the actual year of said 2wd K5...do know it has cancer and doesn't run...perfect starter for me. Thinking out loud...budy in phoenix has sweet clean 73-4 tub....see where i'm goin with this...if that tub will bolt on...i will have the coolest of the cool...a full convert 2wd K5....course moving body mount supports isn't that much of a biggy anyways....any body have any practical hands on with this...

Doug, I am almost positive all the 2wd Blazer/Jimmy frames were identical from 73-80 at least. The only area that may be different are the tranny cross members...due to the later models being required to have cat converters. I know the PU frames were different in that area. At least they are bolted in, so it really should be no big deal.

My 77 has the same floor as a 73-75. I am sure the rear floor changed in 78, and I think the frame changed to suit, as there are a different number of body mounts, IIRC.
BTW, I agree about the full top 2wd blazer being the coolest of the cool, since I have one. Mine still has the 77 body, but has had teh windshield post and top from a 73 put on it. Seems pretty rigid to me. This is my first 2wd blazer, but my 5th full convertible. It the only way to go, IMO.

Jonboy is right...78 was the first year the floorpan was moved back for more leg room ...and also the first year for a power tailgate and power locks and windows if desired...and the tailgate wiring between 78 and 79 is wayyy different.....allright...enough of that tanjent...
Until i can go see this K5 i'm sunk....but the 73 tub and chassis is secure....waiting for me to decide....allmost thinking why not just move the body mount braces if i have to to get the full vert tub on her.... ![]() DW
