rear sway bar

i have a question regarding the rear sway bar that classic performance products offers. the problem with the setup is lack of control due to mounting locaton, right? is there any reason you couldn't attach the bar to a fabbed crossmember behind the axle, then attach the end links to the axle or just behind the axle on the control arms. just an idea, any thoughts?

That is the same bar that is made by Addco. I bought one and ended up throwing it away. I tried to make it work like you discussed. I was going to bolt it to the frame behind the rear axle, and run endlinks down to the trailing arms. However, this would have interfiered with a spare tire or the blazer tank in my situation. If your serious about a rear sway bar, I think you should check out the way I mounted a camaro bar on my truck. It mounts on top of the rear axle and the end links bolt to the frame, just like GM is doing on late model trucks. This bar doesn't interfier with rear end cover, shocks, exhaust, bump stops. You may have to rebend some of the brake lines. The bar is also basically invisible unless you crawl under the truck. I have several pics of the bar on the truck with the chassis completed and bed on the frame. I also have a webpage describing how to put one of these bars on your truck. Let me know if your interested.

burb, i haven't forgot about you, I ordered 2 sets (enough to do 2 trucks) from the aluminum place. I ordered it last week and it got shipped yesterday. Not too happy about that, but I need some odd pieces for my buckets that it had to wait on. I'll be trying to find a place around town that could get me this aluminum sway bar spacers, shipping sucks.
