Need some help installing front airbags
I bought the upper plates, bags and cups from Jason @*****************. Now I need some pics to make sense of how it all goes in. I would love to see some pics of this if anyone can post some. Plus, do I run a 90° fitting off the top of the bag or not? I got everthing except the fittings and airine for $215 to my door. The plates and cups are beautiful and the bags are 2B7s from Airlift. I am gonna run it to a pair of schrader valves and pump them up at the gas station until I get the four link done. Then I will get some advice on what would be a good control system. I can handle this install better if I can break it up into smaller jobs. Thanx in advance, Jay

I'll post a pic of how they were mounted on my 83 tonight.
I used a straight fitting off the top of the bag and ran the line through a hole in the spring pocket(grommeted) down the frame. The plate bolts to the lip on the spring pocket with 4 nuts/bolts. The lower cup stays in the LCA pocket just like the coil. |

Thanks Izzy. I was reading the tech section on the Airlift site and they offer no illustrations but say to drill a hole and run a 90 near the brake line mount on the frame. It also says something about a jounce thingy that has to be removed, I sound dumb now huh? Do you see any problems with me installing this in stages? I was gonna run the lines long enough so I wouldn't have to do much except hook up a control system.

I can't find any pics of mine, but the upper plate should conform to the outline of the spring pocket/crossmember. Clamp them down to it and drill the holes (have a good drill as they are double walled in places). I would run a straight fitting out of the front. I don't see a problem with doing it in stages.

Ken, can you get an above picture of those, to see exactly how the airline comes out the top? As I will be doing the exact same setup as AirMale here shortly.

Yep, that's it. Once you get under there you will see the best way to route it. On my 77 it comes out of the crossmember and runs down the frame. Just keep in mind chafing and heat do not mix well with air lines. Shield the lines from any source of heat and you will be just fine....

What size air line is that, Ken? 1/4"...???
My air line was routed the same way as Ken's w/ a 90* fiiting at the bag. Are you guys using plastic or brass fittings?

What are these gold anodized round plates for?
I thought I read on airlift's site that they are roll protectors. Do they have to be installed or not?

OK silly question here. Is this for a better riding suspension? and can it be used on 4x4 or just lowered trucks?
