700r4 and t-case
I've had a Chev 350/727/Dana 20 in my Scout for years. This is a DD and fuel milage has become an issue. I have a good 4.3/700r4 out of an Astro van. Been thinking about installing it. Is this 700r4 a good candidate for a 4X4 application? What would I need to hook it up to an Atlas or D300 t-case? The vehicle weights in at 3,900 lbs now with the V-8. Would the Scout be grossly undered power with the 4.3? Give me some feed back. My target is 20 MPG. Also, is there a good S-10 web site that I could post this trend? Thanks

I think the 2wd 700R4s are not as strong as the 4wd 700R4s. Then you'd have to open it up and replace the output shaft as a minimum plus get and adapter.

at the local pick n pull yard here you can get a mated 700r4/np231 from an s-10 for $100.00 - so you may want to check your area to see what the price range is

Why not stick with the 350 instead of switching to the 4.3?
