fuel gauge problems
When the tank is full the gauge reads way past full like a problem with the ground, but when it has about 3 gallons left it drops and reads correct until I fill up. It does this everytime and on both tanks. The switch is only about 6 months old. Any ideas?

I think that's pretty much normal for these trucks. Mine has done that since brand new in 1979.

Could be a bad sending unit or the float is stuck, my thoughts. But then again you stated that it was doing it in both tanks, take your volt meter and check the resistents at the back of the guage, or the switch. I have taken the float out and then moved it and then see what the guage does, check your grounds. Mine was always way beyond full, replaced the switch under the truck and it worked fine, hope you didn't buy the switch at auto zone.
