84 rearend question

Hey guys,

Just bought an 84 swb fleetside truck. I know nothing about this year, so I have a question. I have a bunch of parts trucks from 69-72 laying about. The guy wants to keep the rearend out of the 84.... will the rearend from my 69 panel truck fit? Or will this be a big deal?

yeah, it's a real big deal, they don't interchange. that rear must be someething special for h im to want to keep it because prolly 80% of ALL 81-87 truck rears were a 2.73 open and should be in junk yards everywher for $50. I don't know where Cleveland Tx. is but there a LOT of guys here from tx., Ok, and i know someone in Greenville that parts these year trucks out. Find out Why he wants and see if you match it up for him and leave yours alone or let him have it (and hope he doesn't Cut or remove other parts of your truck that you will need) and then you go buy a $50 to shove under it.
I got a 3.08 open here I'd be happy to get $75 for but thats a long ride for ya.:-), DAVE
