Cool. These are pretty uncommon that's for sure. From the listing it sounds like it's in pretty rough shape. Sounds really familiar to my Indy Hauler. It just needs a new bed, cab, doors, fenders and hood the rest is great!

so- who says its a factory truck? ive never heard of it and I dont see any special decals or badges on the truck?? looks like a run of the mill gmc.. am i missing something?

A guy her in town that i know from our sons being in the acouts together just put his 79 street coupe up for sale , SHe's rough but I keepa looking. 4x4 with 4 speed too. only has A/c as options. DAVE

I agree with you about the engine . Back in the day, GM included a number of these GMC Street Coupes and Chevy Sports in their press pool to circulate between various car magazines for testing, and they were usually equipped with the 454 to provide the performance to back up the image. As a result, some of the magazines even mistakenly represented the 454 as a standard part of the package.

Given that, it is funny how few real world examples actually were optioned with big blocks. A while back, one of these Street Coupe/Sport models-another '79- -even appeared on eBay with its original 250 six!
