swaping beds

Can you take a short box off and replace it with a short box step side and have everything line up as far as bolt holes? Im looking at a 79 box with dual tanks to replace my 82 SWB dual tank bed.

Yes , you can swap a short wide bed for a short step side and everything will bolt up the same!

you will need to use the mounting bolts from the stepside bed to mount it to the frame there is a difference between the bolts on a wide side to step side

What year is your truck? I ran across a 78 short box this weekend. It was one of them took a wrong turn and found it kinda thing. I didnt get a chance to talk to anyone to see if they were willing to sell but from the looks of it "flat tires and expired tags" its been sitting awhile but in very good shape. Im going to go back on monday and see if they would sell it. If they do im going to part it out and probly the only thing id keep are the doors. I will post a thread after i know more.

My truck is an 86 and I would like to have one with the square fuel filler hole on the passenger side. Keep me posted.
