almost every step notch that i have seen seems to have an angle at each side. i was about to notch my 72 and i was wondering if the notch has to have an slope or if it can be just a be 90 degree.
IM USING 2"X4"X3/16" RECTANGULAR TUBBING

I've seen 90 degree sloped and round...they all work. It's just a matter of making sure you have adequate cross section and strength for what you will be doing with your truck. Box it...like Boyd...LOL! Your tubing is fine...already boxed but add about 4 inches of box to the adjoining sections of the stock frame for insurance. Make sure you post pics of the finished product.

It's kind of dark where you are

You're going to want to gusset those welds

allready in the making. thanks hadnt thought about that. im in my front yard. i live in el paso, tx And the lighting from the city really reaks. thanks

I would have someone that maybe knows a little more check that out. Dont want to sound like a jerk but that doesnt look to safe. Just my opinion though.

i would say box ahead and behind the notch about 6-8". also, when you box it, at the ends where it quits being boxed, cut the metal at an angle like / or \ instead of | because it distributes the strength better. also, i hope you have a better bridge idea than that. i used 2x3x3/16 but i have 1.5" box tubing across the top, and an x across the front, and a crossmember right after the notch. good luck...

oh, and yeah, its a big notch, but i needed about the same to lay body on stock trailing arms with 20/22's on my panel. i got 10".
