Will the tranny have to be dropped? Also how do I change the seal itself. I know the basics but have never done a one piece before. Thanks

The flexplate must come off so.....yes the tranny has to go.
Just unbolt the seal housing and swap the gasket.
Make sure the seal housing goes back on square and true.

Make sure it's not the oil pressure sender or a valve cover or intake gasket leaking & draining down the back so it just looks like the rear seal's leaking.
