Might need a new steering box...what are my options???
My steering has lots of slack and I've determined its my steering box itself. We tried adjusting it and that didn't anything. If I decided to get a new one, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? What about a different ratio (something a bit faster)? Thanks!

Check these out, http://www.agrperformance.com/produc...0GMC&model=101 they are the best out there IMHO, and dont cost any more than going w/ a stock replacement.

If you don't want to spend that much I seen where a guy sells rebuilts for around $125. I can't remeber the site but if your interested I will look for it. I wouldn't recomend the junk yard route, I am going through that now and have made 4 two hour trips and don't have a working one yet.

Can you tell me how you adjusted your steering box? Just out of curiosity. I adjusted mine and it made it feel like a brand new truck, but it is a careful process that needs to be done correctly.

I don't have experience with specialty steering box providers, but I do have some reputable sites you might be interested in:
WestTexasOffRoad: Read the tech area. Matt Hodges has some info you can do yourself. Howe Perf: They offer steering boxes and pumps for 4x4s. Been around a long time. MotherTruckers: I recently saw MotherTruckers post that they now sell AGR steering boxes and pumps. Quote:

Thanks for the the info guys. Those boxes from AGR look real nice but might be out of my current budget. What I think I might try to do first is just take the stock box out and see if I can find someone to look at it and see if they can find what is wrong with it (who know might only cost $50 to fix). Any tips on getting these things out of the pickup? Do you need any special tools (like to disconnect that link)? Thanks again!

you'll need either a pitman arm puller, or a big hammer (not recommended)
