Hey guys have you ever seen a tranny with NO park only RND2L?Who makes this tranny and how many years had it it is an automatic thats for sure and you start it in neutral only top position is reverse aint that cool or what!I think I would go nuts after owning all trucks with a park position .

Allison transmissions in big trucks don't have park. What kind of truck is it in?

I have the same thing in my 69 GMC. It used to be a class B motorhome that rotted out. Has a turbo 400, odd thing is the output shaft is the same as a turbo 350-[27 spline] Literally does not have any of the parking linkage inside of the trans. I am going to swap it out in a couple of months, already put in a tilt column. Talked to a couple of old fart trans builiders, they could not explain why GM did that in the 'pickup' line. Maybe because of the 14K rating?

It is in a 69 1 ton long wheel base 157" truck.I have never seen 1 before whith no park position when you shut it off you just put it in reverse I guess.

The 1 tons with turbo 400 automatics in some instances had no park on the column. That's the way it came factory.
If you look at parts suppliers.... they sell the lens for the shifter indicator housing that does not have a park position.

Basically its your 1 ton longhorns or cab and chassis that came this way if automatics.

I've never seen a real longhorn without park. The closest thing to that is a 133 inch cab/chassis with a longhorn bed tossed on it....member's name pierce down in Cincinati owns it.
Have you ever parked on a hil, or in a steep driveway with out putting the parking brake on? If you have, then odds are, you had a hard time getting it out of park when you left. That is called torque lock. (Chrysler K-cars were REAL bad about that)
The more a vehicle weighs, the more likely it is too lock. Even on slight hills. Sometimes, you actually need some one to pull or puch the vehicle just a little to releave the tension.
This is very common in bigger trucks...millitary hummers, (th400 and the new ones have 4l80e) and many cab chassis trucks back in the day.
Do not just put it in reverse. In an automatic, when the engine is shut off..every gear is like neutral. There is no hyd pressure to move the gears, so they just let it roll. You need to place it in neutral, and set the parking brake. You'll want to spray some good light weight oil in the cables from time to time to keep it all good. (NOT wd40) Just like a stick shift, turning the wheel to the curb is a very good idea on a hill.

Could be right there Longhorn Man.. I've only seen the non-park position it in a GMC 930 cab and chassis myself with a turbo 400. I've never owned a true longhorn yet.

The mid to late '50's GMC Hydro-matic auto's are just what you described - no Park on the column.

This is a good thread guys its a different 1 that I don't know myself thats why this board is so great .there are so many things to learn and thats why I asked the board members here you are all great guys with great ideas and answers.To get back on topic now,so best bet then sounds like it is an early thm-400 without park position on colum,probably a 133-157" wheel base I know it is a 10000 L gvw truck and a 930 gmc dually in a 1969 canadian made truck.WOW this is alot of info.I guess if I can only get the paint off the glove box sticker it would have the other info but that is near impossible this truck is in such great shape as it has about 35,000 origanal miles on it it would be a great collector.Thanx guys if any one has any other thoughts please feel free to let us know.

The 930 GMC I saw this configuration in was a single wheel one ton..not a duallie. It had a 350 engine and a turbo 400 automatic with no-park position on column.
