Uh oh, that aint good

I'm driving down the highway about 65 mph and I hear a god aweful bang and lost power. The motor in the '73 threw a rod right through the oil pan, oil and antifreeze everywhere including the flatbed that I had to pay another $70 to get it off the highway. Damn!! I think I'll get a crate motor now, cant beat the warranty. Anyway just thought I would let you guys know how crappy my day went ha ha. Here is a pic i took with my phone, kinda hard to see anything though.

Thats usually when the sh!t hits the fan Adam. Last time I blew a motor I was just thinking how good it was running. At least it wasn't your only vehicle. How about a EFI V6 this time around? How much is gas up to?

Oww! That’s got to hurt. I know, I had it happen to me oneday after leaving work, on the interstate. Driving my bother 69 Chevell and then POW!!!!. Funny, just as my brother and I coasted on to the shoulder, a 70' model Caddy came flying by us heading towards the shoulder as well. As the guy passed we could see the driveshaft hanging out; detached from the rear-end. We all had to have been doing 60 or better. He got lucky he did get airborne.

I’ll take trouble of a thrown rod and hassle to pay and change out the engine over the danger of pole-vaulting any car as a high speed any day. But since I fronted the money for the new short block 350, I got the drive the Chevell anytime I wanted. Ha!!!!

What ever happen to the $350.00 buck days for a short block?

I'v been waiting for that to happen to my 350 for 12k miles now. Its got a knock in the bottom end, I suspect its a wrist pin, but don't know for sure, I beat on the poor thing taking it to 5k rpm frequently when I drive it and towing heavy loads and it just won't die!

I got me a new pickup so now I can yank the 350 out of my 85 and check it out, would prefer to get to it before it blows up, but not like theres a shortage of 350 blocks out there

Well good news I suppose. I talked to a friend who thinks he can get me a crate motor for about $850, not bad if I were only PLANNING on spending that much
