That's SWEET!!!!!! From the pictures looks like you fabbed yourself? Do you have a pic of the radio insert for the console before its put into the console? I'm thinking that's added into the console not a complete new console, right?

Thanks
Thats a metra underdash install kit that i fabed up and painted to match. This is no holes drilled install for the radio. The only hole is for the wires to go out on the very bottem of the consol. |

Do you have any problems with the CD player working with it mounted vertically like that? I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I was told by every stereo sales man that you can't mount a CD player like that.
Did you fab the kick panels? Are you considering fabing more and selling them?

If i hit a really hard bump it will skip, but so does the one in my girls car and its mounted flat. I did custom fab the kick panels, its alot of work to make them look this good. I would consider making some for other people but you would be looking at about $500 custom painted to match your truck. These were designed for the best image possable in the 67-72 chevy truck. Unpainted for about $350.

You did a fine job! Thanks for posting the pictures. It really motivates me to get something other than the AM/8-track in my Blazer!

**HIJACK ON**
robg4...Are those mids 6.5's? If so I might be interested in a set of your kick panels. How far does the assembly protrude from the stock kick panel and how high does the protrusion measure from the floor? As soon as I get my Blazer back I'll check to make sure the roll cage doesn't get in the way and if it doesn't I'll take a set of unpainted ones. Let me know. **HIJACK OFF**

Hi Rob,
I was admiring the work you did on your K5. Looks nice. Few questions for you though... On your kickpanels, what did you do for your dimmer switch? Does that kick panel cover it up or did you relocate it? Also, could you go more in depth with the radio install in the console, such as the P/N for the metra kit, how you attached it, ect... I am very interested in doing this in my 72' Burb as I don't want to loose the look of my stock dash, especially after what the stock AM/FM cost me... Thanks. Joe

Thanks everyone,
I did move the dimmer to under the dash. It just unscrews from the floor then i cable tied it up under the dash where i can get to it if needed. |
