Will the shoulder belts from a 73-87 series pickup fit into a 67-72 without much trouble? We've finished my 69 and are working on my 17-year-old son's 67 and his mother would be happier if the 67 had shoulder belts in it. She doesn't seem to care about the 69 since I drive it....

I am using the belts out of an S-10 and it is an easy install. The anchor point has to be relocated on the drivers side for the lower but both belts attach to the upper anchor point with no problem. I used a 3"x4" plate with a 1/2"-13 nut welded to it for the lower anchor on the drivers side under the floor for strength. The two center belts mount to the stock locations.

I can post pics tomorrow if no else does. The S-10 belts seem to be a popular choice and I can understand why.

The only problem with the S-10 belts is that a lot of junkyards will not sell used seatbelts because of liability reasons...I gave up and just bought some new ones from GMC Paul

You might make them work but the floor pan of the 73+ is quite abit different than the 67/72 because of the side gas tank. The 73 floor has a kickup to provide room for the tank that partially under the cab. There is a reason many people use the S-10 style.

The full size 73 and up seat belts looked too short and I could not find black belts in the trucks. I never measured one as I knew that S-10's had been made to work by board members so that was what I kept looking for.

Here are a couple of pics. The lower anchor has been moved forward by adding a plate with nut under the floor. The upper part of the belt is fastened to the existing upper 7/16-20 anchor nut. I made a plastic bushing to keep the metal part from rubbing the cab and used a shouldered seat belt bolt to attach it. The upper part has to swivel to work right.

I got the belts out of a 93 S-10. I think the years to look for were 88 to 93.

i would pony up and buy new belts. over time seat belts dry rot and will break when they are needed most. sitting in a car or truck for years in a junkyard is very hard on them and weakens them tremendously. if your going to use a junkyard seatbelt ya might as well not use any at all

yes they do fit it requires some small mods at the bottom but they do work i have some out of a 79 in my truck

ECE sells the shoulder belts and I think they are fairly reasonible.

I got my from a yard. The belts are excellent, and not weathered since the doors were still on the truck.
